Northwest Rankin Softball wins their second straight MHSAA 7A State Championship after defeating Hernando 12-3! They finish the season with a perfect 34-0 record! What a tremendous season for our players and coaches. We are unbelievably proud and you will always be remembered as one of the greatest teams in the history of Mississippi!

Northwest Rankin’s Nick Weldon participated in Powerlifting in the Mississippi Special Olympics this weekend in Biloxi. Weldon won 🥇GOLD🥇in Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, and Combined Powerlifting!

is headed back to the Championship Series! The Cougars clinched the South State title tonight with an 18-2 win at Ocean Springs. Game one of the championship series is set for Wednesday at 6:45 pm at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.

A couple of moments from today's press conference introducing Sirdonta Washington as the newest boys basketball coach at Northwest Rankin High School.

Welcome to our new Boy’s Basketball Head Coach, Sirdonta Washington!

Sirdonta Washington was born and raised in Union Church, Mississippi a few miles away from Fayette, Mississippi. During his childhood, his life was centered on God and family, and developed two interests: basketball and education. He is an alumnus from Jefferson County High School and graduated from Southwest Mississippi Community College with an Associate of Arts degree. Shortly after, he attended Alcorn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Industrial Technology. Washington furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Grand Canyon University and Principal Certification from Lamar University.
The Union Church native holds more than 18 years of coaching and athletic administration experience after an extensive basketball career throughout grade school and college. Initially, he paid it forward by being named the assistant basketball coach for Jefferson County High School in 2006. From there, he developed and mentored students on and off the basketball court.
From 2013-2018, he served as the assistant boys’ basketball coach and head 9th grade boys’ basketball coach at Provine High School located in Jackson, MS. In 2018, he transitioned to the head varsity basketball coach for Provine and led them to numerous successful seasons, district titles, and playoff runs. In addition, he led Provine to compete twice in the 5A state semifinals. Washington was also selected to serve as a coach for the Mississippi Junior All-Star game, June Scholastic Event (JSE) Top 100 Mississippi vs. Louisiana camp, and CJ McCollum Basketball camp. During his tenure at Provine High School, he also served as the Athletic Director, Dean of Students, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) coordinator.

Washington is married and share a family with three children, one daughter and two sons. He believes that leading by example is the key to success at home, on the basketball court, and in life.
