The remains of a Chinese rocket that was hurtling back towards Earth have crashed into the Indian Ocean, the country's space agency says.
The bulk of the rocket was destroyed as it re-entered the atmosphere, but state media reported that debris landed just west of the Maldives on Sunday.
There have been days of speculation over where the rocket might land, and US officials and other experts warned its return risked potential casualties.
But China insisted the risk was low.

ENGLISH
• Total of 311 active cases in Mts since the 5th of March 2021.
• The ministry vaccinated 1047 staff from regional hospitals today.
• One staff member in the Candos neo-natal ICU ward tested positive. Luckily she had not been at work for a while, and by the time she resumed her duties, the virus has receded considerably. However, the Ministry has taken an unprecedented decision to create quarantine shifts for all neo-natal ICU staff members. No further details were given.
• We are dissuading people from coming to hospitals except where absolutely necessary. Hospitals and patients are asked to take all precautions, including the frequent washing of hands, use of sanitiser, social distancing, masks, etc.
• Two patients are intubated: (1) the 70-year-old woman is serious but stable, and (2) the woman with the digestive pathology has worsened since yesterday and is giving cause for extreme concern.
• The 69-year-old and 75-year-old men whose cases were reported yesterday continue to use oxygen and are being observed. Their condition is serious.
• A dialysis patient came during the night, presenting with complicated bacterial infection. He is not intubated, but his condition is serious.
• The obese man has left the ICU and is much better, and no-one else has symptoms.
• In response to a question, the minister said returning Mauritians who can’t afford quarantine will be sent to recreation centres.
• The AU has ordered 400m doses of J&J vaccine. Mauritians will benefit from this vaccine, but not until June.
• After this endless wait, we will only hear the instructions for post-lockdown tomorrow. No comment.

- News; The Republic of Mauritius has began another national lockdown on Wednesday that will last until the 25th March 2021.
It is the second lockdown since coronavirus infections were detected in the Country over a year ago. The Ministry of Health announced 14 new cases.
"We had no other choice but total containment in order to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the population," Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth announced on Tuesday evening in a televised address.
"This containment became necessary after the appearance of four new local positive cases of COVID-19, bringing to 14 the number of local positive cases registered since March 5."
Only essential services will be operational from Wednesday, including the port, airport, hospital services and emergency relief.
As of yesterday (Thursday), supermarkets, bakeries, petrol stations and pharmacies will be accessible on an alphabetical rotation basis.
"I am sure that we will be able to resume our activities as soon as possible", the Prime Minister said.
However, the opposition has been quick to condemn
the second new lockdown as leaders of the opposition, including the former Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who claim "the incompetence of the government".
But for the Deputy Prime Minister and minister of tourism Steven Obeegadoo, "the government rigorously implemented health protocols" and "Mauritius had no choice but to impose this lockdown in order to break the chain of virus transmission."
Mauritius, which has about 1.2 million inhabitants, had recorded a total of 641 cases since the start of the pandemic, including 10 deaths.
Since March 5, 2021, there have been 31 active cases identified. Mauritius has been commended worldwide on how the government handled the Covid crisis in 2020 which resulted to one of the few countries in the world to have zero cases after lockdown. Here is to hoping normality returns on the 25th of March .
