🏆 Exciting Weekend in Chiwamba: Headteacher's Trophy Draws Enthusiastic Crowd 🏟️

Chiwamba residents were treated to a vibrant weekend filled with sports action as football and netball enthusiasts flocked to witness the prestigious Headteacher's Trophy 🏆 organized at Chiwamba Community Day Secondary School. The event, organized by the school's headteacher, Mr. Kapinga, took place at Balang'ombe Primary School grounds on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, starting from 8 a.m. and continuing until dusk. The primary aim of the competition was to foster a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among the students.

Both netball and football categories saw a robust participation from the students, creating a fierce competition atmosphere that electrified the crowd as each team vied for the coveted trophy.

In the netball category, Form 1 emerged victorious, clinching the trophy along with a cash prize of MK15,000. Form 4 secured the second spot, earning a cash prize of MK10,000, while Form 3 claimed the third position, receiving a cash prize of MK5,000. Unfortunately, Form 2 did not secure a prize in this category as they finished fourth.

In the football category, it was Form 4 that triumphed, winning the trophy and a substantial cash prize of MK20,000. Form 2 secured the second position, walking away with MK15,000, while Form 3 was awarded the third spot, along with a cash prize of MK10,000. Regrettably, Form 1 couldn't secure a prize in this category.

In an interview, Mr. Jeremiah Guguza, fondly known as "JENCO," one of the sports teachers at the school, expressed his delight at the resounding success of the trophy competition. He praised the headteacher, Mr. Kapinga, for organizing such a fantastic event that provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and skills.

It was an exciting day at the Bingu National Stadium yesterday, as football enthusiasts from all over Malawi gathered for the finals of the FDH Cup. Fans of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and MAFCO had been eagerly waiting for weeks for this ultimate showdown, and it sure didn’t disappoint.

A packed stadium witnessed some fantastic football as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets emerged victorious by beating MAFCO by three goals to nil in a match that saw Lanjes Nkhoma score twice, and Ephraim Kondowe score once.

The game was intense from the very offset, with both teams displaying some impressive skills. However, it was the Nyasa Big Bullets who got off to a promising start and put MAFCO under immense pressure with their stunning attacking display. MAFCO tried to hold on, but their efforts were not enough to stop the Nyasa Big Bullets.

Lanjes Nkhoma showed why he is one of the best strikers in the league as he opened the scoring with his first goal in the ninth minute. This was followed by another impressive goal, again by Nkhoma, in the twenty-second minute, which left MAFCO trailing by two goals.

MAFCO tried to find a foothold in the game, but their attempts were unsuccessful as the Nyasa Big Bullets dominated the midfield and kept the pressure on their opponents.

Ephraim Kondowe put the game out of reach for MAFCO by scoring the third goal in the sixty-seventh minute, which sealed a resounding victory for the Nyasa Big Bullets.

Nyasa Big Bullets had booked their place in the finals following an impressive five-goal win over Dedza Dynamos, while MAFCO had triumphed over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

The FDH Cup is one of the major events in Malawi’s football calendar, and this year's final did not disappoint. The supporters of both teams were vocal throughout the match and added to the atmosphere, which was electric.

Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has today released results of both 2023 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) and Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations.

MANEB Executive Director Professor Dorophy Nampota said, out of 267 330 learners who wrote the PSLCE, 234 ,644 have passed representing 87.77% pass rate, an improvement over the 83% pass rate recorded last year.

For JCE, the board said out of 168 219 candidates, 98 753 have passed. This is a pass rate of 72.06 percent.

Meanwhile, Minister Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima speaking earlier thanked MANEB and all the stakeholders for administering leakage free examinations four years in a row.

Malawi have ended their run in COSAFA Hollywood bets competition on position four following the loss in the post match penalties after a goalless draw in the regular 90-minutes of the game.

Malawi lost goal scoring opportunities despite having the FCB Big Bullet's super star Patrick Mwaungulu and the former Silver Stricker's Chawanangwa Kaonga in their prime form of attacks.

The duo attackers were ill-fated as the team failed to convert their freekicks they won in both halves and they were saved by great saves Brighton Munthali made in both halves.

The game ended goaless hence prompted the referee to call the teams to the deadly spot to display their knowhows. Kaonga scored an opener spot kick followed by other two teammates while Kumwembe's kick resonated the hurting message as his kick was blocked by the cross bar before the Bafanabafana's neted their fifth kick.

Bafanabafana have denied the flames from winning the bronze medal as they have finished fourth.

In the COSAFA Cup 2023 match between Malawi and South Africa, the game ended in a goalless draw. Malawi had several opportunities to score, particularly through Patrick Mwaungulu's superb freekicks and Chawanangwa's freekicks. However, Christopher Kumwembe's missed penalty ultimately cost them the game.

Despite Brighton's excellent saves in both halves, Malawi couldn't find the back of the net. The match then went to post-match penalties, where South Africa emerged victorious with a 4-3 scoreline. Unfortunately, Munthari's failure to clear the last penalty for South Africa led to Malawi's defeat.

MABEDI TWISTS LINEUP IN TODAY'S GAME.

Coach Patrick Mabedi has made six changes to the Flames first eleven which battles it out against the hosts South Africa in third-place play-offs at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa.

Daniel Chimbalanga, Frank Willard, McDonald Lameck, Lawrence Chaziya, Chrispin Mapemba and Chifundo Mphasi will for the first time showcase their skills at the tournament since the onset of the tournament.

Mabedi has put on resence captain Stanley Sanudi, Lloyd Aaron, Christopher Kumwembe, Nickson Mwase and Alick Lungu who have been starting in all the group matches as well as the semi-final.

Chimwemwe Idana will lead the Mabedi's boys this afternoon.

MALAWI THE FLAMES TO WRAP UP IN ANOTHER STYLE IN COSAFA 2023 CUP TODAY!
