THE BATTLE IS THE LORDS

The encounter between David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17 is an encouragement to all Christians today. Naturally, Goliath stood a better chance of victory, considering his credentials (size, weaponry and experience) but supernaturally, David was superior because he was on the Lord’s side - God was supporting his position. He would not see the fight as a personal challenge but one against God Almighty. David simply told Goliath, ‘The battle is not mine but the Lord’s. That same God is the one working in me, for me and through me, because I am a man of faith. I cannot be defeated. I refuse to accept defeat even in the face of your sophisticated armour and tactics. What else do I want in Heaven but God? Since I have God, what else do I want on earth? My mind and body may grow weak, but God is my strength; He is all I need (Psalm 73:25-26).

David had tried God in similar situations and found Him very reliable. You cannot defeat your opponent with the weapons you have not tried. So, his first victory was in choosing the right weapon – God’s armour. With his confidence in his invisible but invincible God, he confronted Goliath headlong. He refused to be frightened by Goliath’s usual tactics of intimidation, propaganda and blackmail because he knew the higher hand that was leading him was leading him to something higher – the victory. What is the lesson for us today? Naturally, your enemies may stand a better chance of victory considering their number and instruments at their disposal - but supernaturally, I mean spiritually, you are superior because you are on the Lord’s side. Therefore, do not see the fight as a personal challenge but one against God. You may fall but with Jesus supporting your position, you would soon get back up!

AT THE END OF YOUR ROPE

Romans 3:10-12
The Bible says that we all have made bad decisions, mistakes and wrong choices we regret but we can be forgiven and start over. Have you made a bad decision? Have you made a wrong choice? Are you at the end of your rope?
Don’t give up and quit on life! No matter what happens, no matter what comes, it does not change the fact that Jesus Christ loves you, wants to be involved in every detail of your life and walk you through whatever life brings. No matter your mistakes, He will always be there to get you back on your feet because Jesus never disconnected Himself from those who made mistakes with their lives. Sometimes, we get to the end of ourselves, before God can mould us into glory. When we run out of rope, we need to grab onto faith and look beyond the visible to the invisible where God is.

HOW MUCH FAITH DO YOU HAVE?

The promise of God can only be appropriated by faith which comes through hearing and obeying the Word of God. The instant you believe, you become a possessor of the Father’s nature and when you truly believe, your heart will be at rest. But if your heart is uneasy, if you are fearful or unsure of your future, this means you show no faith and you have not believed yet. Faith allows you to embrace what Jesus did for you on the cross. Faith reminds you that your sins are forgiven so you don't have to be worried or be haunted by your past because your past is over. The mind is renewed by studying the Word and by acting on it. The Word has taught us the value and the authority of the name Jesus and it takes the place of the unseen Christ. The Word of God is Spirit and creates material things proving that the Spirit is greater than material. The Word of God living in you must become a part of you by meditation because meditation in the Word is a visit with Him. So, examine your daily life, you will find out how much faith you have, in your business, career and marital life.
“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done’.” (Matthew 21:21)

A GREAT RELATIONSHIP
Many today want to work for God but few are willing to be His friend. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” The main thing about Christianity is not the work we do but the relationship we maintain. No matter the trials and temptations we encounter, nothing can keep us on course like a deep love for the Lord. In our journey through this wicked world, we need God so that we do not dash our foot against a stone and stumble. But it is not only in the perilous times that we need God; faith is a heart that believes God through ordinary circumstances. In every moment of your life, there is a Friend, closer than a brother and your problem, your pain, your weakness does not embarrass Him. He is the sinner’s only Saviour and His name is Jesus Christ. Are you His friend? Today, you can choose to let the Creator of Heaven and earth assist you in all you do. If you want to be able to do great things, you need to have a great relationship with Jesus.
