Liefs: from doomed to groomed in 36 hours. 😳😰😱

The 4-story developers behind us wanted 10-foot signs up to sell their stores & studios, informing us early this month: 'you have to be gone by the 14th’, because of it.

While they were cutting the once sheltering trees behind us…

Not the best news with high season finally knocking our door, after a nearly too long low-season. 🥹

Within a few seconds of existential crisis, our minds switched to: ‘what added value do we have that will make us able to stay?’ As our mission is too essential to have to make way.

So, just as essential was understanding what these developers want: occupancy.
And what do occupants want: a community to call home, like Liefs. 🤍

Almost every moral human worries about their impact on Earth.
Not in the least about Tulum’s widely publicized pressure by parties, a popping populace and mushrooming realty projects. .. What better than to have a conscious community right out front offering sustainable solace by a supply chain recycling & composting 100%, delicious vegan dishes to minimize your footprint and maximize cruelty-freedom. 😘🥰

In the face of being uprooted, we upgraded our place stat to solidify our stake. Like new roofs to reinstate shade, and our water tower out of their way.

There is no plan(et) B, so we will always go all-in to create a kinder world, one meal at a time.

Cause all we have is now, and attitude is all we’ll ever really own. 💭

The developers dug it. Even asked us how to develop more sustainably themselves; as we offered our community can help, but only if it’s sustainable, which meant at minimum: Liefs stays. 🎉

Today the signs went up. Next to our place. Not instead of.

Liefs would’ve been gone by now, hadn’t we stood so firmly for our mission & looked for the win-win.
Can't help but feel accomplished that we made Goliath work with us.

We once more claimed our spot in this world, versus a multi-million dollar project, by looking for mutual benefit.

Especially with odds against you: stay true. If we can, so can you.
