Join Criticalmass El Paso, next Friday, June 28th for our third annual Pride Month ride! As we gather in support of the q***r community, we acknowledge that the choice to be out should be one that comes with safety, respect, and support.

We ride together to honor and celebrate the history of LGTBQIA+ resistance, rooted in protests led by Black and Latina trans women at the Stonewall Inn in 1969. The fight for basic rights, recognition and legal protections for marginalized q***r communities in TX and globally is still not over!

We ride together to honor and support those in our community who experience systemic violence and discrimination, and all those who have been harmed, threatened, and murdered in our border cities due to their gender identity, expression, and/or sexual orientation. We acknowledge the LGBTQIA+ stands in solidarity with anti-colonial movements and there is no q***r liberation without a free Palestine! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

News article repost from

β€œDecked in helmets and hoodies, Santa hats and tinsel, a group of almost 20 bicyclists made the gradual climb over Scenic Drive on Wednesday night. The 15-mile trip ended with a posada and toasty fire pit at

The event was organized by Critical Mass El Paso, where bike riders of different ages and levels find strength in numbers as they take to the streets. For many El Paso riders, the events have become a way to not only exercise, but to meet new people and get involved with the community.

β€œWhen I’m riding on the streets I get to see El Paso for what it is, things not seen in the car that I see for the first time on a bike,” said rider Rachel Guillen. β€œI get to admire the city a little bit more.”

Critical Mass originated in 1992 in San Francisco and has since spread to cities worldwide, with the goal of promoting cycling and sharing the streets. The local chapter organizes an all-levels ride on the last Friday of the month, open to β€œall wheels” including roller blades and skates. The event can attract 100 to 200 participants, estimated Melissa Lugo, one of the ride organizers. The group also organizes Wednesday night rides and a short-distance children’s ride every month, plus rides to events throughout the year.

This past year, Critical Mass El Paso events included the kermΓ©s at Saint Anthony’s Seminary, an exhibit at Las Cruces Museum of Art and the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte in Ciudad JuΓ‘rez for World Bicycle Day.”

What: 2 mile family friendly ride
Location: Union Plaza Park - 117 Anthony St, El Paso, TX 79901
Meeting up at: 10:30 am
Take off: promptly leaving Union Plaza at 11:00 am.

We will start with safety instructions followed by a 2 mile youth & family friendly ride around downtown, flat route at an accessible pace. We will make stops at rest stops for photos.

Wear festive attire πŸ¦ŒπŸ’šπŸ§‘πŸΌβ€πŸŽ„β€οΈπŸŒ²
Bring plenty of water, a helmet, knee, wrist, & elbow pads.

Ensure bicycles and skates are in working conditions before the ride.
***No repairs will be done onsite. Make sure to do any maintenance before the ride.

Parents are encouraged to bring their own skates and bicycles to ride too or walk alongside your children during the route.

Biking and skating as a family is a great way to build memories, connections, and experience riding around downtown safely! We will be taking precaution by following street signs, lights, and following the rules of the road. We will also be exercising hand signals, callouts, and awareness of the surrounding traffic to keep us safe.

Let’s start taking action to decrease carbon emissions on our planet. A car is not the only form of transportation. Having communities like ours skating & biking will save the Earth 🌎 and keeps us and good health! 🫢🏼

Join us at the next Kidicalmass!🌎
