Join Criticalmass El Paso, next Friday, June 28th for our third annual Pride Month ride! As we gather in support of the q***r community, we acknowledge that the choice to be out should be one that comes with safety, respect, and support.
We ride together to honor and celebrate the history of LGTBQIA+ resistance, rooted in protests led by Black and Latina trans women at the Stonewall Inn in 1969. The fight for basic rights, recognition and legal protections for marginalized q***r communities in TX and globally is still not over!
We ride together to honor and support those in our community who experience systemic violence and discrimination, and all those who have been harmed, threatened, and murdered in our border cities due to their gender identity, expression, and/or sexual orientation. We acknowledge the LGBTQIA+ stands in solidarity with anti-colonial movements and there is no q***r liberation without a free Palestine! π΅πΈπ³οΈββ§οΈπ³οΈβπ

Criticalmass El Paso events featured in El Paso El Paso Matters.
News article repost from
βDecked in helmets and hoodies, Santa hats and tinsel, a group of almost 20 bicyclists made the gradual climb over Scenic Drive on Wednesday night. The 15-mile trip ended with a posada and toasty fire pit at
The event was organized by Critical Mass El Paso, where bike riders of different ages and levels find strength in numbers as they take to the streets. For many El Paso riders, the events have become a way to not only exercise, but to meet new people and get involved with the community.
βWhen Iβm riding on the streets I get to see El Paso for what it is, things not seen in the car that I see for the first time on a bike,β said rider Rachel Guillen. βI get to admire the city a little bit more.β
Critical Mass originated in 1992 in San Francisco and has since spread to cities worldwide, with the goal of promoting cycling and sharing the streets. The local chapter organizes an all-levels ride on the last Friday of the month, open to βall wheelsβ including roller blades and skates. The event can attract 100 to 200 participants, estimated Melissa Lugo, one of the ride organizers. The group also organizes Wednesday night rides and a short-distance childrenβs ride every month, plus rides to events throughout the year.
This past year, Critical Mass El Paso events included the kermΓ©s at Saint Anthonyβs Seminary, an exhibit at Las Cruces Museum of Art and the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte in Ciudad JuΓ‘rez for World Bicycle Day.β
