1. The PROTON X70 is the first premium SUV model from PROTON.​

2. The PROTON X70 was launched by then Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah on 12 December 2018. ​

3. The PROTON X70 is the first “talking car” from PROTON with intelligent voice command ‘Hi, PROTON’.​

4. The PROTON X70 received more than 10,000 bookings before it even reached showrooms. ​

5. As of the end of November 2022, 82,869 units PROTON X70 have been sold since its launch, making it the best-selling C-segment SUV. ​

6. The first locally assembled PROTON X70 rolled off the production line on 13 December 2019, at a plant extension in Tanjung Malim.​

7. The 2022 PROTON X70 was launched on 9 June 2022, offering styling updates and a new powertrain option for buyers seeking an SUV.​

8. Brunei was the first export market for the PROTON X70 where it was launched on 29 July 2019. ​

9. To date, the PROTON X70 has been exported to seven countries.​

10. Aside from being produced in Malaysia, the PROTON X70 is also locally assembled in Karachi, Pakistan. ​

MOVING TOWARDS A BETTER AFTER SALES EXPERIENCE

While many recognise the importance of customer feedback to improve business processes, few have the will to act on those opinions. We at PROTON are determined to ensure all our customers receive a premium level of service from the moment they walk in the door at our dealerships, go through the purchasing process and when they return to service their new pride and joy. Hence, we have listened closely to what owners have to say and we’re making a concerted effort to address all their needs.

Therefore, we’ve set some lofty goals for our after sales teams. The target is to be ranked as the best in the business and that means investments in capital, time and manpower must be made. It’s a painstaking process and improvement cannot be achieved overnight, therefore today we launched the PROTON OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE (POE) initiative.

Using the concept of 4Ps (People, Place, Process and Product/Promo) and measured over a set of KPIs, the initiative is starting with 12 pilot outlets. The aim is to eventually include all 152 PROTON 3S/4S outlets (as at the end of November 2022) in the programme to build a comprehensive network of after sales excellence that ensures all PROTON customers are covered.

At the same time, to motivate staff and dealer principals at key outlets, our senior management team led by Dr Li Chunrong, CEO of PROTON, and Roslan Abdullah, Deputy CEO of PROTON, visited several locations in the Central region. At each stop, outlet staff gave feedback and suggestions on how to improve after sales processes and knowledge was shared between all parties. It’s an exercise that has been done in multiple regions of the country and will continue to occur until our goals are met.

There is still a long way to go and service excellence is never a destination but a journey where one has to constantly move forwards. We’ve now set our sights on where we want to go, and we have a roadmap to get there as well as the commitment to do so. PROTON has opened its 149th 3S/4S centre, adding to the industry-leading number of branches. The new Harima Auto Mobil 4S (Harima) distribution center located in Kota Bharu is the largest distributor in the two East Coast states which are Kelantan and Terengganu.

PROTON recorded sales of 11,477 units (domestic + export) in July with the Proton X50 crowned the best-selling vehicle in Malaysia.

In addition, export sales managed to exceed the overall total in 2021 as production problems subside.

The second quarter of the year began with a challenging month for PROTON as chip supply issues continue to limit the number of units sold. Nevertheless, PROTON still ranks second in the local market with 8,839 units (domestic & export).

Although sales and market hold experienced an overall decline, the three PROTON models still lead their respective segments while export sales continue to rise.
