Dr. Kasturi said that as academic and social projects come together, we realize that it is not just the geographical context, but it is also biography and the intersection between these two on who you are? Japan is known for its technological advancements, and its higher education institutions are at the forefront of research and development. During the topic session, Dr. Futao Huang emphasised sectors that are expected to play different roles and fulfill diverse functions. He contended that both public and private institutions are involved in educational activities, with faculties on humanities and social sciences.
The national universities are expected to facilitate the advancement of basic, applied, and large-scale scientific research, and undertake more research activities. The public sector focuses on the production of graduates for regional economic development and engages in service activities for the local community.
Dr. Futao Huang also stated that Japan, USA, and UK each have distinct higher education systems with unique challenges. One of the challenges in Japan is the low proportion of inbound international students and low proportions of domestic students going on board.

Higher education plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of any country, and Pakistan is no exception. From Pakistan's perspective, higher education is pivotal in driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and enhancing social equity. During the session, Dr. Asif highlights the key development objectives and the goals of the Higher Education Commission in Pakistan.

The development of higher education in Pakistan has been a journey marked by challenges and milestones. Dr. Amna discussed the key contributions of Pakistan's private universities. One is community engagement & social responsibility which benefit the community and instill a sense of civic responsibility in students.

Dr. Riaz mentioned that the institutional capability is the lack of an evaluation system. Collaborative efforts from government, private sector, and international partners are essential to realize this potential.

Riding the Wave of Change!
With our commitment to sustainability and preservation of nature, we have organized Beach Clean-up activities in conjunction with IPPTN Team Building activity. Almost 30 people comprising IPPTN staff and students come together on 19 May 2024 at Pantai Tanjung Asam, Gertak Sanggul.
A huge gratitude to staff and student volunteers for their on-ground support in making this drive a resounding success!
