𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆 𝗚𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁, also known as the 𝑃ℎ𝑜𝑟 𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑟 𝐹𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑎𝑙, is an annual month-long celebration observed by the Chinese communities in the region.

According to Chinese beliefs, on the first day of the seventh lunar month, the gates of hell are flung open, releasing spirits to roam the earth freely. The spirits will venture into the human realm to enjoy a month-long “vacation” when the gates of hell open.

In Penang, this festival has been celebrated on a grand scale, with the burning of paper oblations or effigies and the staging of Chinese opera performances, among other rituals.

During this time of the year, the 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 replica in 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗲𝗸 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴 is one of the most visited replica by visitors as it is one of the largest King of Hades replicas in Malaysia.

Operates by Shenzhen Airlines, this route will be the 17th direct flight route to Penang. Available thrice-weekly: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, this route facilitates easier communication and collaboration between the business communities, investors, and entrepreneurs of the two cities, fostering economic cooperation and development.

During its arrival at Penang International Airport on 27th July, the aircraft was greeted with water cannon salute while the Penang State EXCO of Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai 黄汉伟 and other tourism industry representatives were there to welcome passengers with welcoming reception in place.

This morning, Penang welcomed the inaugural flight of Shanghai Airlines from Shanghai to Penang that marks another achievement in enhancing connectivity and promoting tourism between Penang and China.

With this inaugural flight, Penang now hosts 7 direct flights from China which offer exciting opportunities for both travelers and businesses.

This partnership with Shanghai Airlines is made possible through the efforts of Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia. Echoing to his last year’s announcement on visa exemption for China tourists to Malaysia, Dato Sri has provided a heads-up in earlier this year on the commencement of this route alongside with announcement of Shanghai and China Eastern Airlines to boost flights to 62 flights per week to new destinations including Penang and other states of Malaysia.

This new flight route is expected to significantly increase tourist arrivals from China, contributing to local economy and supporting Penang's tourism industry. Visitors from Shanghai will be able to explore Penang's diverse attractions, from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town to scenic beaches and culinary delights.

今天上午，槟城迎来了上海航空从上海飞往槟城的首航，标志着槟城与中国联合推广和促进旅游的又一成果。

随着首航航班的开通，槟城目前拥有 7 个从中国出发来槟城的直飞航班，为旅客和企业提供了生机及机会。

此合作是由马来西亚旅游、艺术及文化部长拿督斯里张庆信主催并得以实现的。续拿督斯里在去年宣布中国游客抵达马来西亚免签后，在今年初他就这条航线的开通也做出了预告。同时上海航空和中国东方航空也宣布将航班数量增加到每周 62 班。飞往新目的地，包括槟城和马来西亚其他州属。

Built on stilts over the sea in the late 19th century, this 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 was initially home to the city's early stevedores and fishermen.

Over the years, not much has changed—there are still people living here today—apart from the introduction of running water and electricity in 1957 and the recent emergence of sundry shops, beverage outlets, and souvenir stalls.

Today, 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗝𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 remains a treasured and preserved part of George Town's cultural heritage, giving tourists a peek into the old Penang.
