BuduBuds V1 4.4 BAL
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So last night managed to finish our first V1 prototype for 4.4 balance. Yeayy ππ
Downside is the cable only 20cm short. Kinda LOLed since got the wrong cable length but hey its just prototype haha. Tested with Zen Dac for a short impression and kind of the treble was boosted a little. Maybe something that treble head would love.
Stay tuned for our products. More to come!
Sidenote: will finish postage the remaining of our first preorder by today. I shall open new preorder for V1 next week most probably.

BuduBuds v1: The homemade kick
My impressions of the Budubuds v1 prototype by Din:
Audio signal chain: 16/44.1 FLAC on Foobar2k/Apple Music on Cider for Win10 - Zen DAC v1 - Budubuds v1 prototype (has been burned in for >100 hours)
Test track: Cold, Cold Heart (Live) by Norah Jones
Excellent timbre for strings, slightly less so for piano.
Hi hats sound correct with good decay & sufficient airiness.
Lively, vibrant & upfront presentation of vocals & music. It feels like the singer is with you in the room and you're sitting upfront and centre.
Likewise, good for female vocals.
Very good soundstage too, immersive. This is almost a given for most earbuds, but not all. In any case, the Budubuds v1 excels here.
Test track: Pamit by Tulus
Good for male vocals as well. Same lively & vibrant presentation. In this manner, the Budubuds v1 is similar to my much much more expensive Blur PK32 266 (New Line).
Strings sound really great here, as does the piano.
Treble seems to be well extended and yet smooth with no perceivable peakiness, harshness nor sibilance. This may or may not have to do with the burn-in period.
Test track: Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin
Female vocals as mentioned before are great and sweet, lush-sounding. Very forward..perhaps even too forward at times (but still coherent). I like this kind of sound tho, it might or might not be your cup of tea.
Instruments sound to be well-separated with good imaging.
Details are good-to-great but if I'm nitpicking, it is not comparable to the detail levels afforded by Etys. This is, of course, to be expected and par for the course for earbuds.
Test track: Radioactive by Anna Lunoe
Bass is fast and tight with good thump.
Doesn't appear to bleed into the mids much if at all.
Good bass extension, this might even please some bassheads. But it still can't beat the Smabat M2S Pro in this department.
Test track: Limit to Your Love by James Blake
Likewise, here bass is very responsive with great speed. No hints of flabby/loose bass at all.I can certainly say that the bass on the Budubuds v1 is way above par compared to some of the other (and in some cases, way more expensive) earbuds that I have.
Test track: Street Spirit by Power-Haus feat Eivor Palsdottir
Good female vocals from Eivor. Everything else in the mix are coherent and well-represented.
Test track: Orpheus by Sara Bareilles (Live from the Hollywood Bowl)
Soundstage, imaging, separation & vocals...all these gets an A from me here.
Overall sound signature: Neutral-to-bright sounding set. Balanced with no overpowering emphasis across frequencies. Most earbuds lean to being more warm-or even dark-sounding, so the Budubuds v1 is a standout in this regard.
Driveability: Very easy to drive. I was never at more than 9 o'clock on the volume pot of my Zen DAC v1 (power match & truebass off).
Ok, time to wrap things up. I'll abstain from giving a numerical score as they can be quite arbitrary, imho. What I can certainly say is that the Budubuds v1 gets a very hearty recommendation from me, especially if you consider the price and that it's locally made & tuned by the maker. For a first foray, Din has done a fantastic job. I say this with conviction: for someone just getting into earbuds, the Budubuds v1 could be all you need until you're ready to step up into TOTL-land (with the accompanying deep pockets π); even for seasoned earbuds veterans, I believe the Budubuds v1 still has the potential to surprise you with it's excellent capabilities and technicalities. It might just be the something different that you're looking for.
I've tried to be honest here and have chosen my words with care. However, as we all hear differently, here comes the usual caveat of batuan anda mungkin berlainan (YMMV).
But really, all I can say is this: Go ahead, give Budubuds a try. For the asking price, it's a no-brainer. And btw...to the uninitiated, welcome to the rabbit hole.
So, it seems that BuduBuds tonality similar with Grado. Dont compare technicalities but the tone is somewhat very similar to our ears.
So now, do we need to purchase one for us? π€£
BuduBuds V1. What do you get.
- Premium Box with BuduBuds stickers
- Case
- 3 additional foams
And of course V1 itself.
Thanks to all of our buyers and supporters for making this to happen.
Sidenote: please ignore the stickers aligment ya π€£π
Yay or nay? Experimenting which packaging should be the best.
Please give us chance because we are not that creative. Hey, its our first step right π
Sound Signature.
Once we go down deeper in this rabbit hole, we will have better understanding of what is a sound signature. Generally speaking, all gears or transducers if you may call have different sound signature. These sound signatures can be group into a few big groups, if I may use the term here. So what are the usual sound signature group that we usually encounter.
1. V shaped
- the most famous soung sig.
2. U shaped
- Similar to V shape but not so recessed mids compare to V shape.
3. W shaped
- In my own words, W shape is similar with V shape but with sub bass and upper treble having early roll off. hence the W shape.
4. Flat
- No boost in any region of sound frequency
5. Balanced
- Has some boosted in several parts but those boosted region never really outshines others, thus balanced across the frequency
6. Warm Balanced
- A balanced but having boosted a little bit more on the bass region
7. Balanced Bright
- A balanced but having boosted a little bit on the treble region
8. Neutral Bright
- Bass and mids not boosted (or flat) but a lil bit boost at the treble region
9. Warm Neutral
- Treble and mids not boosted (or flat) but a lil bit boost at the bass region
Well we think that will be enough for now. So which one is your favorite?
Got advice from one of the person that encourage us to really do and focus on BuduBuds. His advice is to start properly so that BuduBuds can grow well.
So here we are having our logo as stickers. To all of customers, stay tune. We try to give a 'premium' feeling even it is a budget earbuds. Stay tuned and thanks for all the support!
While waiting materials for our first preorder to arrive, we have been experimenting the tuning for our product. Since V1 is more on neutral bright making it best for female voices and electric guitars, at least for the treble head so we are trying to add warmth to it.
Got the warmth but maybe too warm and got some bleeding to the mids. Need to play around more to get the best results.
If we achieve it, we will sure make it available for ordering.
Hi everyone.
First of all, thank you for all the new followers! We really appreciate all the support given to us.
As for now, we have closed the preorder for Batch 1 and will open again on March after we settled all batch 1 orders.
Any takers for March preorders? Do PM us for order bookings.

Budubuds by Din
Tested with Ovidius B1
Sound Signature
Neutral Bright, with bass boost.
Soundstage
360 Degree Soundstage, superb positioning, each has their position around the 270 degree of soundstage, with the cheers or sorakan located at the back. some instrument locate at front, and some at the back. The soundstage is not as wide as Asura 2.0, but as wide as LBBs, so a typical earbuds soundstage size. In a drum centric song, you can image the drum being separated all across the soundstage, cymbal at the left, tom toms at the front, hi hat at the regent, stand tom at the middle right.
Instrument
Details but musical. Neutral tilted to bright. Due to its signature, some of the instrument has less bass impact and has less warmth to its. Percussion has is impact, guitar has its satisfying pluck, but not as good as Asura 2.0. In a live song, a feel a bit crowded, and cheers, boo cause a bit shout to the listening experience. In a violin intense orchestra, the bright is prominent.
Vocal
Tilted towards bright. Male husky vocal is not appeared has the Budubuds brightness swallow the husky timbre, Male voice ex*****on is not as flawless as LBBs. Deep female vocal, like Billie Ellish, sound phenomenal in Budubuds. Budubuds also has a good imaging of the vocal. Some song main vocal located to middle right, some song main vocal is located at the middle left. while back up vocal is left and right. Harmony vocal is located all 180 degree of soundstage.
Pairing
Warm source with spatial imaging. Budubuds need clean and warm source to shine, Using 3.5 jack from laptop or phone, it become muddy and warm.
Comparison
LBBs
LBBs Pro : LBBs has more natural timbre, and easy to be driven at any given source.
LBBs Con: LBBs is too midcentric and is less technical than Budubuds
Asura 2.0
Asura 2.0 Pro : Thick Vocal and huge soundstage. Deep impactful bass, and thick timbre.
Asura 2.0 con: Hard to drive and too thick for some
Monk SM
Monk SM Pro : Easy to drive to make it sound beautiful
Monk SM Con : With a correct source, Budubuds is way better than Monk SM
Verdict
The existence of Budubuds makes me wonder how overprice all other customs earbuds really is. Hats off the our main man, Din for making such an outstanding product
Our first product in the market.
