Tech Neck - accumulation of neck tension due to Forward Head Posture.
Most neck muscles tend to get shortened or tense when our head hangs forward, especially when we are looking at our devices or working.
Do you know that at least 70 percent of neck or back pain begins with normal daily repeated activities like time on an electronic device?
P/s. It is common to have neck pain, but it is definitely not normal to have one! Don't forget to take a short posture break from work! Stay safe.

Being sedentary for long periods is not good for your health and studies showed that it can put you at increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, etc.

Something that you can consider of doing, maybe walk around the house/get into different rooms while handling a phone call, or going up/down the stairs to get a glass of water every hour to keep yourself hydrated.

Other than that, a short 10-15 minutes of workout a day is better than not doing any.

Herniated disc a.k.a slipped disc is one of the most common causes of neck pain.
When the spinal disc is pressing on a nerve root, the symptoms can include: numbness or tingling in a shoulder or arm that may go down to the fingers...
At times, sneezing, coughing or even laughing can trigger the pain in the neck too!
Many of us are using smartphones, tablets or laptops below our chest level, it leads to an excessive forward head position over the neck and slouched upper body.
Spending too much time in such awful posture leads to prolonged strain in the neck, shoulder and upper back muscles, as well as causing more stress at the spinal joints too!
P.S Just imagine you're pulling the rubber band apart for an hour, it snaps!
Whiplash is caused by a motion or force that makes your neck move beyond its normal range of motion. The most common example of whiplash is actually the rear-end collision.
A sudden back-and-forth motion could be enough to damage the muscles, tendons or the ligaments in the neck.
Study showed that whether you are wearing a seat belt or not, a speed of 20-30 km/h impact can be sufficient to cause a whiplash!
Neck pain can be really disturbing when it is affecting your daily activities. There are few common factors that could lead you to have a neck pain too.

Time go by fast as we are too focused at our work and prolonged sitting will definitely contribute to more strain and stress accumulation in our lower back.
It is recommended to get a short posture reminder every 30-45 minutes from the phone to break down the bad posture habits!
Make yourself a standing platform! Be it a height - adjustable standing desk or shelf platform, switching up by using a standing platform while working will help to reduce the posture stress that will eventually leads to backache and neck pain.
Fun fact - According to BBC News, by working standing instead of sitting, you can reduce the risk of weight gain by burning about 50 extra calories an hour!
