UOW Malaysia (UOWM) has forged a groundbreaking collaboration with Intel to launch UOWM-Intel IC Design Centre of Excellence at its Batu Kawan campus, making history as Southeast Asia's first university in Intel’s University Shuttle Program. The MOU signing with Intel Malaysia took place on 1st July 2024, in the presence of the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, who also officially inaugurated the launch of the UOWM-Intel IC Design Centre of Excellence.

Intel’s University Shuttle Programme is aimed at collaborating with universities to give academics and students access to their semiconductor chips, thereby accelerating research and development and expanding their semiconductor talent pipeline for the future. With enhanced educational offerings, cutting-edge research opportunities, and access to Intel’s advanced technologies, UOWM is poised to lead in semiconductor innovation, meeting the evolving demands of the global tech industry and driving forward the future of digital and electronic design.

MSc student Gautheman Kurup from the School of Engineering, UOW Malaysia, won the Best Presenter Award at the ICAEMC conference organised by UPM! Under the guidance of Ts. Dr. Nishata Royan, Gautheman presented his research on "Effect of Compatibiliser and Plasticiser on the Mechanical Performance of PLA/Tapioca Bio-composites." Congrats on this remarkable achievement 👏🎉

On April 25, 2024, UOW Malaysia’s School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (SHTCA) hosted 44 SMK Subang Jaya students for a culinary workshop led by Chefs Paul Lionel and Muhammad Edwan. They learned and made Chicken Cordon Bleu! 🍽️

On April 27, 2024, 30 students from Pay Fong High School, Melaka, joined us to create a hotel-quality 'Big Breakfast' with Chef Adrian Pinto and Chef Intan. 🥓🍳

These workshops gave students hands-on experience and a peek into professional cooking.

This year, we are glad to have Penang Chief Minister, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow to officiate the festival. We also glad to have Jabatan Pendidikan Pulau Pinang (JPNPP) to host the Festival Seni Budaya Peringkat Negeri Pulau Pinang during Technicolour and expecting 8,000 students from primary & secondary school and 5,000 festive goer from public.
