Cartesian Coordinate System is a method to determine the position of a point or object on a plane, or into 2D or 3D.
The position of a point is determined based on the distance from x-axis, y-axis and origin.
Each of the objects has its own geometrical characteristics. 2D geometrical shapes such as square and triangle have width and length while 3D shapes have width, length and height. Round shape such as circle and sphere use radius to calculate area and volume.
A circle is the curve sketched out by a point moving in a plane so that its distance from a given point is constant; alternatively, it is the shape formed by all points in a plane that are at a set distance from a given point, the centre.
The parts of the circle usually include chord, radius, diameter, circumference and arc.
Polygon is a plane figure bounded by straight lines.
Two types of polygon:
1) Regular polygon
- A polygon in which all the sides are of equal length and all the interior angles are the same.
2) Irregular polygon
- A polygon in which all the sides are unequal and the interior angles are not the same.
***Sum of exterior angles regardless regular or irregular polygon should equal to 360.
Algebraic formulae is a combination of two or more algebraic term. The formulae consists of unknown term such as x, y, z and etc. which can be combined to form an equation together with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The algebraic formulae is applied by engineers, statistician and mathematicians in their respective careers.
Algebra is a branch of mathematics used to explain the relationship between various units of quantity, for example, speed, weight and height etc. Different situation has its own problem solving skills which under various type of relationships. Data Handling
1. A statistical question is a question that can be answered by collecting data and there will be variability or diversity in the data related to the questions.
2. Types of data collection: Interview, Survey, Observation and Experiment
3. Two types of data: Categorical and Numerical
4. Data can be represented in: Pie Chart, Line Graph, Dot Plot, Stem-and-leaf Plot, Bar Chart, Histogram and Freqeuncy Polygon
1. Set ialah himpunan benda-benda dengan ciri-ciri tertentu.
2. Benda-benda dalam suatu set dikenali sebagai unsur.
3. Set biasanya dilabelkan dengan menggunakan huruf adjad besar dan tatatanda digunakan untuk set ialah tanda kurung, { }.
4. Dalam tatatanda set, simbol ϵ menunjukkan unsur bagi set.
5. Simbol ∉ menunjukkan bukan unsur bagi set.
6. Set kosong ialah set yang tidak mengandungi sebarang unsur.
7. Set kosong diwakilkan dengan menggunakan simbol ϕ atau kurungan kosong, { }.
Misalnya, jika set A ialah suatu set kosong, maka A = { } atau A= ϕ dan n (A) = 0.
8. Jika B = {0} atau {ϕ} tidak bermaksud B ialah suatu set kosong. B= {0} bermaksud terdapat unsur ‘0’ dalam set B. Manakala B = {ϕ} bermaksud terdapat unsur ‘ϕ’ dalam set B.
Poligon ialah rajah satah tertutup yang sisinya terdiri dari[ada 3 atau lebih tembereng garis lurus yang tidak semestinya sama panjang. Dua poligon yang perlu tahu iaitu:
1. Poligon sekata- semua sisi yang sama panjang dan sama sudut.
2. Poligon tidak sekata- tidak sama sisi panjang dan tidak sama sudut.
