These fish otak-otak (fish & egg custard) are made with herbs and spices, layered with ikan (siakap) flesh, fresh Santan, finely sliced keffir lime leaves and pieces of daun kaduk (wild pepper leaves).
There is a lot of love and patience put together into this little bowl of Jiu Hoo Char (literally known as Stir Fried Cuttlefish in Hokkien).
This is the first ever dish we thought of putting into our menu of family favourites. What makes it special is that we learned through hands-on under the watchful eyes of our late Ah Mah. Every strand of carrot, turnip and pork belly has to be cut precisely the way we were instructed to do.
The taste of this dish reflects the passion and the magic of flavours put together in Peranakan cooking that we have mastered, it has become one of our signature dish!
