Though uncommon, durian flowers can actually be eaten! 🤩
Delicate to the touch and crisp in texture; these flowers are unmissable with it’s bright yellow hue and light floral fragrance.
While milder in flavour, these edible blooms taste just as unique as the actual fruit! When raw, these flowers taste starchy and slightly sour but when cooked, they mellow down into a subtly sweet and tangy flavour!

Can you guess the variety? 🤔
Here’re some quick tips to help you to tell them apart:
🟡 Shell Color
Musang King is typically dusky green with a light yellow base while D24 is a homogenous green.
🟡 Thorn Density and Shape
Musang King’s thorns are fairly large, pyramidal and more widely spaced compared to D24’s which are finer, sharper and tightly clustered to one another.
🟡 Visibility of Seams
The seams of a Musang King are very visible, meeting at the bottom, forming a broad five-pointed star. In comparison, the seams on a D24 are harder to spot due to it’s densely packed thorns.
🟡 Crown
Musang King has a smooth crown with thorns facing downwards and away from the stem. D24’s crown has thorns growing up and over it, facing upward.
🟡 Stem Length
Musang King has a relatively long stem, while D24 has a short stem. An easy one to spot!
With these simple tips, you’ll be able to tell them apart from one another in no time!

1. Look out for wrinkles on ‘full’ durian pulps
2. Lightly poke the flesh with your finger
3. Little indentation + skin intact = Great pulp!
