Malaysia’s water security requires prompt intervention – Dr Xavier Jayakumar Public-private initiative urgently needed to tackle supply woes

It started in 2008 , when I was an exco , these residents were former estste workers in Kg Fatimah and they were squating on state land
It was along process and finally today 25 of them got their land titles
I Will finish what started years back
There is still 12 families to go and with the help of JPS Kuala Langat it can be done

Following the comments about the civil service, we should all reconize the work that’s put into making the system being resposible for the development of the nation.
My little experience with the civil servants have been a very fruitfull learning curve
They are a bunch of dedicated officers who are aware of the subject matter as they are trained with qualification to support the Minister
Its how we approach the policy matter,that’s important, Listening and reading is most important, we can agree to disagree but in the end a collective decision has to be made to carry out the action plan
Anyone can apply for the job and subject matter specialist are most well come . Its not always about money but the love for knowledge and stir the decision making towards reaching the goals
It does not matter who , but you have to be willing to work as a team
Its what this unity govement is all about
Together we succeed divided we will fall
It would take all parties to work together
After all we want a stable and prosperous nation

We are heading into a global crisis as far as energy is concerned , where do we stand ?
There has been so much talk about dicarbonising by 2050, some want it to happen by 2030.The question is whether we willbe able to convert our demands to green energy , how do we do it? At present solar is less then 10%. How much more can we push it
Wind is a no no , its not viable , not in Malaysia anyway . What else , wave , mini hydro, waste energy all these cannot add up to provide the increasing demand, so where do we turn to!
80% of our power supply comes from coal plants and we are to change by 10 to 15 years
Is that possible ? It does not seem though, Europe has a different view, if we look at France ,they are going greeeeen through nuclear plants, The greenest of all energy, India is on the same path
The technolgy is changing rapidly , we know low grade uranium are now being used and studies show them to be productive bronging down the carbon emissions to the levels agreed apon
TIme is not on our side , this the paradigm shift we need to look into
The longer we wait the more difficult it going tobe come
The Govtment has to decide, where do we go from here

Saya ucapkan terima kasih kepada semua agensi yang telah memberikan kerjasama yang baik sepanjang saya menjalankan tugas saya selaku Ahli Parlimen dan juga atas sokongan semua warga Kuala Langat P112.

Ia adalah satu keistimewaan dan kebanggaan untuk saya mewakili Kuala Langat sepanjang tepat 4 tahun 5 bulan, di sesi Parlimen ke 14 ini.

Jika diberikan kesempatan dan peluang saya akan berkhidmat semula untuk anda semua.

With Foreign Minister DS Shaiffudin , author and researcher Benedict Weerasena on Assessing and Addressing Urban Poverty in Malaysia at ISIS .I chair AppMG on urban poverty in Parliament.There is a urgent need to revisit at how we look and tackle this issue .There is a large increase in the numbers and we have to prepare safety nets for those who are categorised as urban poor , this needs multiministerial because this ia a multidimensional problem , hopefully we can get everyone on board.
