Introduction

NO NOISE PERCUSSION is a percussion group based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that was formed in late 2007. Inspired by the group like Stomp Out Loud, Blue Man Group, and Wadaiko Yamato, NO NOISE PERCUSSION came up with their own style of performance. The name NO NOISE PERCUSSION itself represents the concept of applying the percussion playing technique using objects that are made for n

on-musical purposes, not even for producing sounds. They also use recycled objects and modify them to support their performance. NO NOISE PERCUSSION is a self-managed percussion group and moves independently with their own self-named company. Performance Concept

They try to highlight the idea of combining contemporary and traditional technique of playing and composition with performing their own original works. No Noise percussion inserts theatrical act, humor, and supported with synchronized movements and choreography in their performance

Goals

NO NOISE PERCUSSION believes that everyone can make something out of nothing. Using junk, a household and industrial object, by its very nature, challenges the issue of waste and challenges the notion of culture as being highbrow or detached ( i.e. you don't have to buy a cello or a drum kit to make music ). Beyond that, it is really down to the attitude of the group. They want to amuse, uplift and inspire. They feel they have succeeded when the audience leaves trying to play every object in their path as they leave the show. Since NO NOISE PERCUSSION itself is using non-musical objects, their objective is to support any environmental campaign, and at the same time, their goal is to support Malaysian cultural arts and heritage and to show to the world Malaysian own products such as “Batik” (by inserting batik motive in their costumes), Gamelan and Traditional Music, etc. Services
