The police have arrested one Jonathan Marcus for the mù rder of an elderly couple, Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79.

The suspect was the couple's former driver. The incident happened at their residence at Apo Legislative Quarters on April 1, 2024.

The deceased man who was on a wheel chair and his wife had their throats slit by the suspect. The reason for his action is still unknown.

1. On 11/3/2024, a viral video surfaced depicting the murder of Emmanuel Uche, a 500-level student of Abia State University, in front of Miracle Lodge,Uturu.

2. Acting on credible intelligence, today 18/4/2024, at about 1100hrs, a team of police detectives from Abia State Police Command, apprehended the principal suspect at Isiukwuato who was captured in the viral video committing the murder of Emmanuel Uche at Miracle Lodge, Abia State University, Uturu.

An average Igbo person is a hustler. These dudes in the picture below caught my attention as I was working yesterday. Dudes were hustling with passion. Dudes were so cheerful, doing the hustling with great determination. The good of it all was that they were hustling with love. Helping each other and were also happy knowing that one day their hustle will pay.

Many great men passed from one hustling stage to the other and they were pushing and grinding till they got to their destination.

Have you ever read the story of the Anambra man, Mr. Joseph Chukwuka Ulasi (Oji Ukwu Eje Aba)? According to history, he regularly travels from Nnewi to Aba with foot and that's what have him the nickname "Oji Ukwu Eje Aba". He wasn't trekking to Aba for jamboree rather because of his unflinching hustling spirit as a young Igbo boy who is determined to make it in life and of which he eventually did by becoming the most successful transporter from Southeast.

Do you know that "Oji Ukwu Eje Aba" in the early 1930s, a man who is known for trekking from Nnewi to Aba became the owner of the popular J.C Ulasi Motors which was a household name back then in 1930s.

'He Is In The Mortuary' — Anambra Police Speaks On 'Burying' Junior Pope, Other Victims By The River Side

The Anambra State Police has reacted to the confusion surrounding the burial of the victims of the Anam boat mishap by the riverside.

According to the police, three of the deceased were buried by the riverside but actor Junior Pope and one other are still in the morgue.

The police added that one of those buried by the riverside has been exhumed and taken back to her state for burial.

Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement: “The Command on an inquiry about the unconfirmed information that the recovered bodies including Junior Pope were buried by the Riverside where the boat accident happened, discovered that three of the deceased Families accepted the victim should be buried beside the river.

“But later, the family of one of the victims decided to exhume the body to be given a proper burial in her State while the other two were still buried there.

“Also, Junior Pope and one other are still in the morgue and await the deceased family’s funeral arrangements, Please let’s be guided.

“Meanwhile, the producer of the movie and the two boat drivers’ Statements have been obtained, and other necessary actions/moves already emplaced by the Operatives as directed by the Commissioner of Police to determine the criminal liability of any person, if any, in the mishap.”

WHY I STRUGGLE TO GIVE GOV OTTI ANY CREDIT - PART 1!

Although I did not support him in the 2023 gubernatorial elections, and rightly campaigned vigorously against his candidacy during the elections, I still had some sort of faith in Governor Alex C. Otti's ability to change those critical/ fundamental leadership behaviours that have stagnated our progress as a state, considering his almost stellar banking career, which saw him reach the apex of the banking industry. I thought that he was going to be an improvement over the leaders we have had in recent years, especially in the most fundamental areas of governance. Yes I had my doubts about him, but little did I know that he will turn out to be exactly or worse than the past governments that we fought hard to change.

To many Abians who view good governance from the perspective of brick, mortar, and Caterpillar tractors, Governor Otti has started off so well, but to critical analysts, who look beyond the razzmatazz of highly promoted roadworks & exaggerated meagre achievements on display in the last 10 months, Abia has made no move in the positive direction, as all the governance behaviours and practices which have kept us backwards over the years, have continued unchanged under Governor Otti’s government, and even appear more entrenched or consolidated.

Let me dive straight into the reasons why I have been reluctant to attribute any sort of success or credit to Governor Otti’s government so far, to the dismay of a less analytical majority, who judge books from their covers.

RENEGING ON HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES
A good leader is one who makes promises and stands by those promises. The developed societies which we envy today, take this behaviour very serious. In those successful societies, promises made by leaders are obligations and form the bedrock for measuring their character, and performance. For me, a leader keeping his promises, is the single most important parameter for measuring the performance of a leader,

*If "lie" was human....we know exactly. Otti must know that Abia State wasn't a desert before he became Governor.

*The Governor of Abia State Mr. Alex Otti while addressing Ariaria traders, said that for the first time after many years, Council Chairmen in the state were able to “grade roads and rehabilitate health centres”. He said era of tampering with LGA funds are over.

*Grade roads? Rehabilitate health centres? God have mercy. Ordinary councillors in past administrations did more than just grade roads and rehabilitation of buildings.

* Councillors did curvets, modern busstop, garri processing hubs, rehabilitation of market stalls etc. Chairmen of councils did mega markets, motor parks with shops, built admin. blocks and offices, tarred roads with flexible pavement, provided transformers and energised same, reconstructed legislative buildings, medical outreach etc.

*Mr. Otti, our brains and memories are still serving us right. We are not all suffering from dementia to have forgotten so soon. Even with little funds they did so much as against your era of mega billions from JAAC allocations with nothing to show for it but social media noise.

*It is even now that the Local governments are starved of their funds more than ever before. Ndi Local government ataala ahuhu .

With about N150billion that have accrued to the 17 LGAs through JAAC and other revenues under Otti for 9 months, where can anybody see the huge amount invested or spent, whether infrastructure or salary. Can ordinary grading of roads be said to have consumed about N150billion?

AFRICA'S TWO FINEST LEADERS
1. The man on the left is the 44 years old President of Senegal, who was sworn in yesterday, as the democratically elected President of Senegal. He declared his assets publicly two days to the elections. His assets include $6600 cash in banks, two 2nd hand cars, a house in Dakar, land outside the capital, a farm land in his village, and 2 wives, according to African Tradition. He was a Tax Inspector, who had never held a political position or any big position. You would have thought that ethical considerations will not be at the top of his agenda, but he declared his assets even before the elelctions.

2. The man on the right is the 59 years old Governor of Abia State, Nigeria, a renowned banker, who rose to the apex of Nigeria's banking industry, as MD/CEO of the defunct Diamond Bank. Despite his almost stellar banking career, he has basically reneged on almost all his campaign promises. Ethical behaviours and considerations have been relegated to the bottom of his governance agenda as follows:

1. He has refused to declare his assets publicly as promised in his campaign manifesto, 10 months after he was sworn in as Governor.

2. He runs a totally opaque government where contract sums and project scopes are unknown.

3. He does not follow due process in the award of contracts. Contracts are awarded to cronies from the comfort of his bedroom at unknown costs.

4. He has refused to allow the LGAs run as independent government entities. He has refused to grant autonomy to the LG Authorities as he controls their finances, and runs pseudo governments, with unelected Mayors.

5. He does not allow the independence of the legislature. He confirmed that he technically appointed the reincipal officers of the House of Assembly, who act as his appendages, especially in financial approvals, without recourse to House Members.

6. He runs the state from the comfort of his home, and has abandoned a multibillion Naira Government House. Executive Co
