The greatest mistake you can ever make as a designer is to sell things that are not relevant to your profession.

You need to read this,

Most tailors look for side hustles to support their tailoring business because they have not really sat down to ask themselves some deep questions, as to why this business is not able to sustain me.

they refused to open their eyes to see endless ways to make money through fashion business,they look down on the little things and focus on the big ones which may not be their point of blessings.

Every fashion designer is unique in his or her own way, God puts this talent in different people but also put diversity and uniqueness to differentiate tailor A from B but because you refused to look inwards and Know or recognize the unique area of the talent that God has placed in you, rather your busy looking around all over the place copying each other .

Fashion is vast and ways of executing the business is vast aswel, you can have 1million kids designers but different ways of designing and different strategy in selling them aswel.

You might be sitting on untapped multimillions yet broke, looking for how to make money.

One sister met me after church three years ago, she is a fashion designer like me, she said she needs my help, that her husband is just there, no financial contribution towards the family, she has about 300k tuition hanging on her head, if not her kids will be sent home, they won't be allowed to take exams,she has 100k hoping I could lend her the remaining one, to pay me back after running Christmas sewing season.

I told her that I can't lend such an amount to someone I know not to talk of just a church member, but I can give her a business idea that will help her raise the money quickly, 😳😳😳 she looked at me like, are you ok, how will that happen.

I said madam I have seen your girls and what they put on every Sunday and I can see your good with kiddies design, use that 100k, buy cheap lace,organza and tule, make different kinds of kiddies designs, take them to Ikotu market and sell them, pay those people at the market, park your car there, open your boot and call out customers, you will be shocked at how much you will make.this is December, a lot of women are shopping for their kids.

Thank God she listened to me,did exactly what I told her, she said she got a bell and was ringing it, that she sold at a flat price of 4k each, she finished everything in two days and made almost 300k gain. She was so happy and came to thank me.that was it for her.

She never believed she could make that much money in just two days,she also discovered that her talent is kiddies, she also found a way to market it faster.

Dear designer, you might not need a side hustle to make it, all you need is to discover the strength of your talent and how to market it to the right audience.

I pray for God to open your spiritual eyes to see the hidden talent that he has placed in you. 🙏🙏🙏.

Yesterday, I was in a place and I counted over 3 shops that were shut down.

Initially, I thought the business owners had relocated Abroad, but it was never so

The response I received saddens my heart.

The businesses had folded up

They couldn't pay for the shop rent.

It is so disheartening to see what you labored for crashed.

TARRY IN THAT PLACE FOR AWHILE

I started my fashion business over a decade ago in a particular environment. It got to a time that the one shop was too tight for us and we needed to relocate to another place

All we wanted was a flat because it has enough space for my business. After a long search in our environment, we couldn't get one closer to my initial workplace.

So we started searching everywhere/anywhere not minding losing the customers we've made.

We got a new building and we paid immediately. My joy knows no bounds as I danced back to the workshop to tell others about the good news.

Very early the next morning, I received a call from the landlord that he was not giving out the apartment to a fashion designer🙄. I was depressed and wry sad, I went to the agent to help me plead with the man but no positive results. My money was refunded.

We just tarry there until we got a bigger place close to my former outlet.

WHY DID I SHARE THIS STORY?

👉Last month I received a call from a strange number who told me she needed my service for her bridal dress.

I asked how she got my contact and she said she came to my former place and picked my contact from the sign board🥰🥰.

👉Another woman visited us last week for a reception dress. She said she was directed to my place for a better job.

Lesson learned

✅Most reasons why you don't make sales is because you and watered in that former place but you never waited for an harvest time before you relocated 👉so someone else is reaping those rewards.

✅Those who could refer you to a better client has lost contact with you and there is no means of getting in touch with you🤔

✅Always have a plan B to connect with your clients if you must relocate.

DEAR FASHION STUDENTS,

Starting your outlet after graduation is good but do you know that 2 things are more important before you become your boss?

Yes, everyone wants to become the CEO but do you realize it comes with loads of responsibilities?

Let me explain this to you before you open that outlet

You need some experience and expertise aside from the little you had g*thered from your fashion academy, so go for an .

Let me share with you one of my experiences with one so-called fashion student who came for an internship some years ago. When she came, she told me, Aunty, please I want to learn again🙄.

I was surprised because she came with a form that indicated that she came for an internship.
She was so submissive and trust me she left as a better designer when her internship was over.

👉Go for an internship, and compare what you've learned with what they do out there... It's very important 💯

2)YOU NEED MONEY TO START A BUSINESS, SO HUNT FOR IT.

As a Fashion Designer who has been in the business for over a decade, I can advise you that you should not start that shop with only one machine in it. Instead, use that machine at home and save up to buy more machines 👉so you can come out big.

👉People are moved by what they see

👉People love luxury and they are ready to pay for it

👉No matter how good you are, if your office is not neat, people will still price you down.

Stay at home, work hard, and be disciplined and in no time you will get your office.

Listen, you have massive bills to pay out there remember

Power holding✅

Tax✅

Local Government Revenue✅

Signage✅

Upgrading✅

Sanitation etc ✅.

This work is too tedious than collecting a for a job well done

How I wish I can hug 🤗 everyone right now,👉 I know it's not so easy, especially during this period when the prices of all the materials have skyrocketed.

I understand how people in this profession strive so hard to remain in the business even at this critical time.

I know how overwhelming it is trying to meet up with the customer's demands and the strains they have on your family.

👉But do you know that you can not just kill yourself trying to make ends meet?

It sounds so funny because you believe you can't pay right? Do you know you can actually pay? The only thing you need to do is understand the business aspect of this profession.

You don't necessarily need to pet a salary, you can place your worker on .

✅ASSIGN WORK TO YOUR WORKERS:

It's so funny how people paid their workers and they will still do the whole job. I've been there before and I understand what I'm insinuating.

I always believed that they can't do the job well so ended up doing the job myself 🙄

This can be very draining

Instead, teach your workers how well to do it.

✅GET A SIDE HUSTLE:

If you want to be sincere with yourself you will realize that most of these clients do not pay your bills.

They believed that you can't live without them.

Most time you need to engage yourself with another paying business.

WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE REPEATEDLY

Dear Fashion Students

One of the things that bothered me most as a fashion Tutor is seeing fashion students invest huge amounts to set up their shops without understudying the basic percussion needed to guild against, and eventually, the shop folds up.

Opening a shop is more than getting a good location, invest massively in the renovation, good packaging, and having all equipment available for use.

When you want to start your business, you need to sincerely ask yourself these Three important questions👇👇

👉Are you competent to handle clients' work perfectly with little or no complaints?

👉Who are your target audience, and how do you attract them?

👉What will be added to your business to constantly give you Daily Alert? It's important

When you have a good answer to these adequately, then get a shop at any location, trust me you will make money.

Don't just open a shop when you have no answers to these👆, It always ends in regret.
