Self Driving Vehicles 🚙

You must have seen in atleast one science fictional movies back in about 2008 where someone gets in a car and it's takes the person to a defined location.

Well, thanks to Tesla Self driving vehicles are already on the market and what we have so far is just a tip of the iceberg as their goal is Level 5 automation, do you know what that means?
A vehicle that has no steering wheel or pedal, the passenger just inputs where they want to go and the car does all the work.

Imagine you just have to jump into a car, tell it where you want to go and then sit back to enjoy the ride or perhaps do some other things like watching a movie or reading the news paper, this is not so great if you love to be behind the wheel yourself but here are other things you could benefit from this innnovation.

1. Reduction in pollution.

With majority of self driving vehicles being electric or hybrids and given the fact that autonomous vehicles drive more efficiently than humans, Study by Davis, University of California suggests that automated vehicles could reduce green house gas emissions by as much as 80% by 2050.

2. Reduction in traffic congestion and accidents.

Driverless vehicles travelling in a close covoy communicate with each other electronically and this allows them to brake or accelerate simultaneously.
It's autonomous capabilities such as consistent driving speeds and keeping a measured distance between vehicles can reduce unnecessary breaking and reacceleration which would also lead to massive reduction in traffic deaths.
They also pick up hand signals from the motorists and reacts to it accordingly.

3. It makes parking lots obsolete as it could simply drop off passengers and move on.

Self Driving vehicles use technologies that are expensive. Large amount of money are needed for the finest materials, research, development and innovations.

Self Driving vehicles have been successfully programmed but as long as technology is concerned unexpected glitches might occur and this invention could be major targets of hackers.
