🟤 It has SPF(sun protection factor)of at least 30 written on the product.

SPF30 gives you about 97% UV protection while SPF50 gives about 98% UV protection.

🟤 It is broad spectrum(UVA/UVB).

🟤 It is water-resistant (If your sunscreen is water resistant, it means you are protected even when your skin is exposed to water.
👉🏼 Remember, sunscreen even with SPF 100, will not protect your skin completely from the sun. 🌞

Sunscreen is only a part of sun protection, the other important sun smart things to do are:

🟤 Cover as much skin as much as you can.

🟤 Wear wide brimmed hats and sunglasses

🟤 Always seek the shade when outdoors, don’t forget to use umbrellas.

🟤 Avoid the sun during it’s peak hours (typically 10am-3pm) as much as you can, as this is usually when the uv index peaks.

Ultraviolet index of 3 and above is capable of damaging the skin, if you are about stepping outdoors and you need to be sure, you can google it.
In Nigeria, the average UV index is 7, so it’s a no brainer here....be ☀️ smart.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲:

🟤UV rays can cause skin cancer, yes it’s less likely to happen to us who are persons of color but when it happens, the prognosis is poorer 😢

🟤Uv rays cause photo aging, don’t be decieved, black can crack. If you want to age healthy, sun protection is key.

🟤 There’s also the risk of sunburn (blister, redness...)

🟤Uv worsens hyperpigmentary disorders such as PIH, melasma. It is also a risk factor for skin conditions like dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN wrongly called skin tag), etc

𝗣.𝗦.: Sunscreen is not meant for only your face, you should apply it on all sun exposed areas.
