Today, The Ekiti State Government, through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, commences its comprehensive data collation of artisans and unemployed active citizens within the state. The goal is to gather crucial data to facilitate informed decision-making, identify key challenges faced by businesses, and develop strategic interventions to address the issue of unemployment within the state effectively.

TOWARDS ENSURING FINANCIAL INCLUSION AND JOB CREATION FOR EKITI PEOPLE.

The Era of limited access to financial services in Ekiti, particularly at the grassroots level, is gradually fading away.

Many rural communities in the state lack effective access to financial services, forcing residents to undertake long journeys to carry out basic banking transactions such as cash withdrawals or deposits.

Recognizing the challenges faced by the people in this area, Governor Oyebanji, through the Ministry of Employment and Wealth Creation, is launching a comprehensive Agency Banking initiative aimed at addressing this issue and ensuring financial inclusion for all, while simultaneously fostering empowerment and job creation for Ekiti youths.

In actualizing this initiative, the ministry is collaborating with interested financial institutions in the state to implement an Agency Banking Scheme.

*What Does the Agency Banking Scheme Connote?*

â™» The scheme will be funded by the partnering banks, while the Government will provide a conducive environment for safe and smooth operations.

â™» Data collation will commence next week to facilitate the registration of intending beneficiaries, after which the enrollment and selection process will begin.

â™» The partnership entails the training and empowerment of 1000 youths in Agency banking, selected from across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State.

â™» The selected youths will receive continuous monitoring and mentoring from the state Government to support their continued career growth.

In order to launch the operational phase of the initiative, the Commissioner for Employment and Wealth Creation Otunba Kayode Fasae on Thursday,held another strategic meeting with relevant MDAs ; Ministry of Youth Development, Ministry of Trade , Industry, Investment and Cooperatives , Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy and Bureau of Community Communications.

Otunba Fasae had earlier in an engagement with partnering banks ,encouraged the banks to leverage the forthcoming cyber optic network project being initiated by the Ekiti state government, which will significantly enhance connectivity across the state.

EKSG PREPARES FOR AGENCY BANKING PROGRAMME.

Ekiti State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has delineated the State into 132 Units in preparation for the commencement of the guided Agency Banking Programme in Ekiti State under which many unemployed youths in the state would be empowered

The State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Otunba Kayode Fasae made this known in Ado-Ekiti during an inter-ministerial meeting with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies that would play roles in the mobilization of relevant stakeholders and participants for the programme.

Otunba Fasae who described Agency Banking as a strategy in the Financial Industry that uses authorized Agents to deliver financial services to customers living in the remote areas and beyond the reach of the traditional branch network. He said would-be beneficiaries are to form cluster groups before they can take part in the programme.

The Commissioner also disclosed that government would soon begin collation of data of unemployed youths, market women, artisans, okada riders, people with disabilities and other citizens between the ages of 18 and 50 adding that every individual captured under the programme would have a unique means of identification so that they could easily be contacted whenever there are job opportunities and other empowerment opportunities.

He also revealed that the government is taking financial services to all the 177 wards in the State adding that the State Government is partnering with interested banks in the 3 Senatorial Districts of the state.

The Commissioner intimated the relevant MDAs that the Ministry has had meetings with intending banks such as Wema, Stanbic IBTC, and First City Monumen Bank (FCMB) for the proposed programme adding that over 1,000 youth would be engaged as commission agents and 200 as sole agents for job creation.

Otunba Fasae’s impact, right from humble beginnings as a banker and to General Manager of different banks to gloried time as DG of the Ekiti State Microfinance and Enterprise Development (MEDA) and now as Commisoner for Wealth Creation and Employment, has touched many lives. We celebrate him even as he continues more vigorously on this path of actualizing the Governor’s agenda of shared prosperity for the good people of Ekiti.

Ekiti State Government in collaboration with the State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (EKICCIMA) is set to hold a summit on economic development and wealth creation.

The State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Otunba Kayode Fasae made this known while receiving officials of EKICCIMA led by its President, Dr. Olufemi Ogunmola on a courtesy visit to his office in Ado Ekiti.

Otunba Fasae reiterated the resolve of Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration to partner with individuals and corporate organizations in achieving the goal of rapidly developing the State, adding that no goal would be left unturned in the task of improving the general wellbeing of residents of the State.

Fasae stressed that the economic summit would help the growth of Small and Medium Scale (SME) businesses of individuals and corporate organizations as well as boost the Internally Generated Revenue ( IGR) of Ekiti State.

In his remarks, the President of the Ekiti Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (EKICCIMA), Dr. Olufemi Ogunmola has said that the proposed summit will involve the entire Organized Private Sector (OPS) in the State.

Dr. Ogunmola said that the summit which is scheduled to hold in January, 2024, will feature launching of Cooperative and Trade exhibitions as well as key lectures and plenary sessions on different relevant topics bothering on the micro-economic transformation of the State to be delivered by erudite academicians, funders, development partners, business moguls and key industrial players.

He appealed for support of all stakeholders towards ensuring the realization of the summit, stressing that the successful hosting of the summit is in tandem with the policies of Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration as enshrined in its 6 pillars. The Commissioner also stated that his ministry will soon commence the collation of data of all employed youths, Artisans, market women and people with disabilities, to aid effective planning by the State in ensuring wealth creation and employment opportunities in the state is achieved.

Fasae and his team engaged with the Hon. Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of Lagos State's Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, as well as key stakeholders.

In the boardroom at Lagos State Secretariat, the Lagos team shared valuable insights into the structure and operations of the ministry. Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, the Commissioner for Lagos, discussed intricacies and addressed challenges, paving the way for a stronger partnership.

Ekiti's team displayed enthusiasm to learn by asking insightful questions and seeking clarification. Both teams mutually expressed their commitment to maintaining close communication, strengthening the bond between our States and creating more opportunities towards shared prosperity for our people.

TRIBUTE to BAO'S ONE YEAR IN OFFICE

365 days ago, the People's Governor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, began his journey as the Executive Governor of the State of the Land of Honor, Ile Iyi Ile Eye, Ekiti State.

Exactly one year ago, he made a solemn promise before God and all to faithfully serve the good people of Ekiti State.

He promised Ekiti people, both at home and abroad, to commit his intellect, experience, and high-performance work ethics to building a better Ekiti that works, and he has since been walking the talk.

One year later, he has used every single day and minute in office to deliver on his mandate to serve.

Although we still have a long journey of growth and development ahead of us, it's worth noting the remarkable growth we have achieved in all sectors of the state, including education, security, the environment, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, social services, support for the private sector, and MSMEs.

I am thankful to God, the leadership of our great party, and all the good people of Ekiti State for the belief they have in our hardworking Governor, as he is committed to the work and to sustaining this drive until we achieve a better Ekiti State of our dreams that works for all.
