Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, is launching the "Adire Ekiti Hub" to empower the State's youth.

This initiative is part of Her Excellency’s Pet Project, “Widows and Orphans Hope (WAOH)" to provide free training and equipment in Adire dyeing and textile production to address unemployment challenges.

The focus is to train 200 youths for starters in combination of traditional and modern techniques, enhancing their competitiveness in the global market.

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has urged students of public secondary schools to justify the huge investment of the state government in them by working hard to attain academic excellence.

Dr. Oyebanji gave the advice on Friday while performing the official flag-off of the disbursement of financial support to
indigent students and the disbursement of funds for the second phase of the mass renovation of public secondary schools in the state.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had thigs to say about infrastructure maintenance in the state.

According to him, men of the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), a uniformed security agency established by a law of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2016, would be pulled out to join state police.

Yesterday, Ekiti State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment, and Cooperatives convened a meeting with stakeholders in the commodity/essential goods market in order to address the challenges posed by the current inflation.

Representatives from various sectors including iyalojas, transport workers, spare parts dealers, food vendors and livestock farmers engaged in productive discussions on the pressing issues affecting traders and consumers.

Key concerns highlighted by the stakeholders included the impact of imports from outside Ekiti, exchange rate fluctuations, constant increase in fuel prices, unethical trade practices, the need for more support in agriculture, the negative effects of unregulated trade unions and urbanization encroaching on farmlands.

The stakeholders proposed solutions such as promotion of sustainable agriculture, provision of security for farmers and residents, granting tax concessions to boost trading activities, and the subsidisation of transportation costs.

In response to these challenges, the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mrs Omotayo Adeola reaffirmed the resolve of the Ekiti State Government to work closely with stakeholders to address the challenges and create a thriving ecosystem for all.

She drummed up support for the local economy through the following resolutions which were made at the meeting:

-Establishment of a task force for price control and regulation to ensure fair pricing in the market.

-Publicity campaigns to raise awareness about price control regulations and promote transparency.

These proactive measures aim to mitigate economic hardship

The Lagos State and Ogun State Police Commands have commenced a joint patrol on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to prevent crime and criminality in the area.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

According to Hundeyin, the joint patrols will cover Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

He urged motorists not to panic at the sight of increased police patrols on the travel route.

Ekiti State Government through Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKS-WAMA), is continuously ensuring and encouraging compliance by providing safe, ethical, efficient and eco-friendly waste disposal practices within the state.

Earlier this month, the State Government embarked on a mission to revitalise the state’s waste management sector by procuring new dino bins, waste collection trucks and other large waste management equipment. The dino bins have been stationed at easily accessible designated locations.
