*REPORT ON THE ENROLLMENT OF SICKLE CELL WARRIORS INTO EKITI STATE HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME (EKHIS) FOR THE MONTH OF MAY*

On May 3, 2023, Olanipekun Ayomide Initiative (O.A Initiative) began enrolling People with Sickle Cell Disease (PwSCD) in Ekiti State in collaboration with the Ayeni Idowu Sickle Cell Foundation, Sefunmi Sickle Cell Disease awareness and campaign SSCDAC, and the Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme (EKHIS).

The enrollment's primary goal is to have comprehensive and reliable database for People with Sickle Cell Disease (PwSCD) in the state and provide access to free regular and quality medical care.

Eighty One (81) of the One Hundred and Twenty Six (126) Sickle Cell Warriors who were successfully enrolled into the EKHIS FREE health insurance program for the month of May have been recorded in the database.

Now that they have completed their enrollment, the eighty-one (81) Sickle Cell Warriors can return to the primary healthcare facilities and begin receiving the free medical care. These medical facilities include primary, secondary, and tertiary care.

The June enrollment period is now open, and we're using this medium to let people know they may register by calling the number on the leaflet, 09029051446. It costs nothing to enroll and register. At the time of enrollment, only the NIN will be needed.

Finally, we would like to extend an invitation to the general public and Sickle Warriors in Ekiti State to the First Advocacy Walk/Campaign for People with Sickle Cell Disease in Ekiti State on June 16th, 2023 at Fajuyi. After the Walk, there will also be free medical outreach. Free PCV testing, free malaria parasite testing, and free medications for sickle cell warriors are all part of the outreach. An arrangement has been reached to offer the Sickle Cell Warriors a free bus during the Walk.
