Often times, I see women complain about their wig causing headaches and making them uncomfortable so I thought to share with y’all ways to avoid wig discomfort.
To avoid headache or any form of discomfort caused by wigs, you need to choose the right size of wigs for you because wig headaches are mostly caused by wearing a wig that is too tight. Tight wigs add unnecessary pressure to the scalp and it’s this unwanted pressure that can result in headaches. Before purchasing your wig, it’s important that you measure your head properly and choose the right wig size for you. To do this, take your cloth tape measure and measure from your front hairline to just above the ears, to where your neck bends, and back around to the front hairline – this will measure your circumference. That way, you can choose a wig size that suits you or you can simply go for a ‘one size fits all’ type of wig if you don’t want to stress yourself 😂
Another thing you can do is to buy a Comfy Grip Headband. This is a therapeutic headband that is placed under your wig. It’s purpose is to secure your wig and distribute its weight and pressure evenly, helping to relieve headaches for wig wearers experiencing them.

Tangling-This is the easiest way to know if you have bought real or fake hair. Fake hair tangles unnecessarily and excessively. Even though human hair tangles a little, it is not as much as fake hair would.
Try burning a few strands-Fake hair melts while real human hair burns. Human hair will curl up into a ball and catch fire immediately and, it will smell like hair burning. Fake hair will melt and smell like rubber when touched with fire.
Apply water and see what happens-Human hair wigs turn wavy and curly when wet, spray some water on it and see if it curls. If it curls then it's real human hair, if it does not curl, it is fake.
Use bleach to test a few strands-This might be a little extreme, but if you want to get to know whether the hair you bought is fake or original then cut some strands from it and apply bleach to it. Human hair will tighten but, fake hair will burn when bleach is applied.
The price-The price at which the hair in question is sold is another huge giveaway in identifying fake ones. If the human hair is sold at an unrealistically low price in the name of “special offers,” be wary because you might end up purchasing fake weaves that look like real hair.
Shedding-This too can happen to human hair but if it is too much, then you can know for sure that the hair is not genuine. Shedding should at most be a few strands when you comb through.
