Living things are things that have life. That was part of our revision with my kids for their assessment before the Christmas break. Even though a contract cannot move, breathe or grow. A contract can actually grow, reproduce and die if you think about it well enough.
My point is, Contracts are living documents that need to be reviewed with the changing circumstance.s most businesses go through and also the fast pace of the world we operate in. As much as we lawyers look into the future to draft contracts to protect businesses and individuals, businesses and individuals are constantly evolving.
Not to talk of laws that are constantly changing that needs to be reflect in the terms of your contract..

I can never forget the instruction I learnt growing up when I started crossing Lagos roads especially before traffic lights were everywhere.
Look left, look right, look left again. Even with traffic light, I still double look.

But let's come together and figure out a way. Why are we lawyers? Even if the big shots don't do it, even if NBA is reluctant, we can do a lot together.

It's very important to be a registered voter. It gives you the right to recall your elected representatives in government that you've lost confidence in.
If they know that we can recall them, I believe they would sit up and be of true service to their people.
But I know the problem is that most of wanted to register to vote but were frustrated by the process.

I am one of those that is happy with this decision of the court. Some estates took it too far with collection of estate dues. Locking gates to prevent you from exiting or accessing the estate, pasting names of debtors on the gate.
These estates should find a more creative way of getting people to pay joor and not forcing them.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has delivered a landmark judgement that Nigerians who live in a residential estate cannot be compelled to be a member of the Community Development Association (CDA) popularly known as residents’ association of estate.

This decision of the Court has put an end to any future arbitrariness of resident associations in Nigeria.
By this decision, payment of dues is now voluntary and forcing residents to be member's has now been declared unconstitutional.

The judgement was delivered on Friday, 25th of September, 2020, by Honorable Justice Oweibo, sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

(FHC/L/CS/982/2020) Megawatts Nigeria Ltd v Registered Trustees of Gbagada Phase II Residents' Association and others.

So ShopRite is not leaving Nigeria, at least on the face value of what we know right now, they are just divesting.

PS, pls don't be discouraged by the news that it's difficult doing business in Nigeria, I agree that it can be difficult but we are stronger together, I am an advocate for collaboration, in stead of being small players, more businesses need to collaborate to achieve more. We need to break this African or Nigerian mindset owning everything. Just my 2cents.

Be intentional. Be aware of what you are spending your time on this week. A great practical way is to write down what you intend to achieve this week and review it morning and evening everyday of this week.

Imagine if chicken republic did not register this their logo as a trademark and someone else that registered it demanded that they cease and desist from using it.
They would have to stop using the logo and that will definitely have a negative impact on their business.
