UNICROSS GRADUATE EXCELS IN NYSC CAMP

Okpo Chibueze, a graduate of Department of Animal Science in Obubra campus of UNICROSS has excelled in Port Harcourt camp of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) by clinching the top position in the Accesspreneur business pitch contest held in camp.
His success came by delivering a compelling defense of his Pig Farming business pitch, aimed at addressing food insecurity.
Sponsors of the competition rewarded him with the sum of one million naira.
Kudos to UNICROSS and congratulations to Okpo on this well-deserved achievement.

UNICROSS VC COMMISSIONS REMODELLED EKPO ABASI ROUNDABOUT AND UNVEILS STATUE

The Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Austin Angba, has commissioned the remodelled Ekpo Abasi roundabout in Calabar South Local Government Area and unveiled a statue, near the main gate of the University.
The commissioning and unveiling ceremony took place on Monday, 31st July, 2023.
This development is part of the University's community service project.
Prior to this time, the roundabout had suffered from wear and tear and there was no statue there.
Rather, broken bricks surrounded a square dilapidated stone.

In his address at the ceremony, Prof. Angba praised the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu and his administration for showing renewed interest in UNICROSS.
He said: "Today we are enjoying a new government in the state that has a renewed interest in UNICROSS. A government that has shown commitment to a new UNICROSS. We are bearing a new name by virtue of a change of name from CRUTECH to UNICROSS and everything is becoming new by the grace of God. With this new roundabout, we know that new good things will be coming to UNICROSS."
The Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that UNICROSS will continue to be a force to reckon with nationally and internationally, especially now that the University has been ranked as the 7th best University in Nigeria.
He said: "After the ranking, I began to get calls from all over the world. From US, Canada, UK, Kenya, Uganda and all of such big countries. They wondered 'where is this school?' This school is at Ekpo Abasi."

CRUTECH Student Shines in National Competition for Engineering Students

Amidst all the gloom and despair that was pervasive during the industrial strike action by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abigail Wogor, a student of the Department of Civil Engineering, CRUTECH, has brought good news and glory to the university.

Despite the academic rustiness that accompanied the strike action and the short notice that preceded the competition, she went all the way to Lagos and came 4th in the NIgerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) Eco-friendly Engineering Innovation Challenge for students edition 2.

Her award winning topic is “ Lignin an Eco-Friendly Alternative for binder in Asphalt production”.
According to Engr. Dr. Anderson Etika, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Abigail's topic is not her undergraduate project topic.
He explained that rather, it is borne out of her desire for research.
Engr. Dr. Etika added that "this is the spirit we have been yearning for. It is a great way to go."

On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Augustine Angba and his management team as well as all staff and students of CRUTECH, we say a big congratulation to Abigail Wogor (16/CEN/227).
We also extend our congratulations to the Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Engr. Dr. Anderson Etika and all staff of the department for grooming Abigail to achieve that brilliant feat.
