The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State today hosted its momentous federal constituency campaign flag-off at the Party’s secretariat, Molete, Ibadan taking a vibrant step towards the electoral success of the party ahead of the local government election scheduled to hold on 27th of April, 2024.
In his address, Hon. James Olukunle urged constituents to unite and ensure they secure victory for all PDP candidates in the upcoming local government elections. His impassioned appeal resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring a collective commitment to success.
The event, which was graced by the State Working Committee of the PDP led by the State Deputy Chairman of the party, Hon. James Olukunle; Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Oyo PDP State Secretary; Hon. Michael Ogunsina, acting PRO and youth leader of the party in the State Pastor Popoola Abiodun and amongst other party officials.
While addressing the cheerful crowd, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke echoed same sentiment, commending the unwavering dedication and support of party faithful, assuring them of PDP's unwavering position as the ruling party.
He affirmed that the PDP is the only Party in Oyo State that can boast of an array of exceptional and quality candidates, stressing that each candidate was chosen by the people through a rigorous process which will culminate into an imminent victory across all 33 local government councils and 351 wards.
The palpable energy and optimism permeating the gathering left attendees brimming with hope and confidence in the party's ability to deliver absolute Victory at the election.
Chief Nureni Akanbi (Baba Ile-Iba) a leader of the party in Oyo state and a member of the Governor's Elders Council who was also present encourage the people to give their full support to the party's candidate at all levels in the coming elections, stating that they've displayed capacity in their first tenure to earn them a return.
The candidates who received the party flags included chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, Hon. Rahman Adepoju and Hon. Ganiyu Omotoso and Ibadan South West Local Government chairmanship candidate, Hon. Kehinde Akande and Hon. Tajudeen Adeniyi, the vice chairmanship candidate.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has exuded unwavering confidence in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State as the Party prepares for the forthcoming local government council elections. Addressing a spirited crowd at a campaign and flag presentation ceremony held at Ido local government, the Governor assured party members and supporters of the PDP's strong chances to secure victory in all 33 local government areas, as well as the positions of 351 Councillors available in Oyo State.
During the event, Governor Makinde took the opportunity to officially present the party's flag to the chairmanship candidate, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, and the vice chairmanship candidate, Barr. Olayemi Oluwashina.

Oyo PDP Takes Campaign to Ogbomoso, Describes Rigging Claims Baseless, Groundless
The campaign train of the State leadership of the People’s Democratic Party today berthed at Ogbomoso zone with Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency being the first port of call to the State Executive Committee flagging off the campaign for the forthcoming local government election in April 27 and presentation of flags to the two chairmanship candidates and their vice chairmanship candidates in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government and Surulere Local Government respectively.
The campaign which took place at Ajaawa in Ogo-Oluwa Local witnessed large turnout of party members and stakeholders also saw the defection of an APC chieftain; former chairman of Surulere Local Government, former Federal House of Representatives candidate under the Labour Party in 2015, Hon. Israel Akinwunmi Ogundiran popularly known as Master led multitude of defectors from opposition APC back to the PDP fold.
In his address, the senatorial chairman of the Party Hon. Muftau Ogunremi commended leaders and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency for the positive outcome of NASS and Governorship elections.
He further implored them to replicate same during the April 27th local government election.
Hon. Israel Ogundiran while speaking, said the APC is a party that is full of deceit and lack of empathy for the people. He said with the hardships being brought down on the people by the APC led federal government has clearly shown that no well meaning person would want to be identified with such party.
It was with pomp and pageantry the State Executive Committee was received with at the venue of the campaign in Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency at the Soun Ogunlola City hall where party members and stakeholders were already waiting.
Addressing the massive party members in their colorful attires with different placards, the secretary of the Party in the State Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke enjoined the people to troop out in their large numbers on April 27th to cast their votes for the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Local Government Areas as they have done today at the campaign grounds.
Describing the opposition as noisemakers who have nothing to offer the people except noise.
He also charged chairmanship, vice chairmanship and the councillorship candidates to run an all-inclusive government to ensure people get dividends of democracy
Dr Saka Adegbite Balogun appealed to all party members to keep faith with the party as everyone will be compensated when the time is right.
Addressing the massive crowd both at Ajaawa and Oja'gbo, the Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, described the claims of the opposition that the local government election will be rigged by the PDP led State Government as baseless and groundless.
He said a party which is campaigning from one ward to the other, expending so much human and financial resources this much could not be compared to the opposition which has not been seen campaigning.
However, he commended the people of Ogbomoso for coming out in their large numbers to support their candidates, he further enjoined them to return to their polling units to start massive mobilisation of support for all the PDP candidates in the forthcoming election.
Hon. Rasaq Gbadegesin, addressing the crowd implored party members and the people of Ogbomoso to vote for all the candidates in the April 27th as the Governor Makinde led Oyo State Government has shown clearly that the PDP is the party that has the interest of the people at heart.
The flag presentation was conducted in Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal by Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, Dr Saka Adegbite, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Chief Bayo Bankole and host others.
The federation of Ogbomoso Students National Council were also in attendance where they presented a gift to the Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde in appreciation of the shuttle bus the Governor gave them and their contemporaries.

LG Polls: Oyo PDP Commences Local Government Campaign, Welcomes Defectors from APC, LP, SDP, NNPP
The Oyo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has officially commenced its campaign for the forthcoming local government election in the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency ahead of the April 27th local government election with a terrific outing. The ceremony included the symbolic presentation of the party flags to the PDP chairmanship candidates for Akinyele, Hon. Wole Akinleye and Lagelu, Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru Morenikeji.
The State Deputy chairman who represented the Chairman of the Party, Hon James Olukunle said the PDP is the party to beat in Oyo State seeing how the people still identify with the party in Oyo State.
However, he charged the people to come out in their large numbers on election day to replicate the massive outing of today at the poll.
In his address to the enthusiastic crowd, the party's Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, commended the party members and supporters for the massive turnout and expressed confidence in securing victory in the April 27 local government poll.
The secretary also took a swipe at the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting their lack of campaign activities and rallies in the state. He emphasized the rejection of the APC by the people of Oyo State due to perceived hardships under the APC-led federal government since 2015.

Oyo PDP Leadership Harmonizes with SDP, NNPP Leaders in Òkè Ogun Zone

The leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State recently convened a crucial meeting with leaders from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Nigeria National Party (NNPP) who recently defected into the PDP from Òkè Ogun Zone. The purpose of this strategic gathering was to foster unity, harmonize interests, and seamlessly integrate all returning members back into the mainstream of the party.
The meeting, which took place today at the State Secretariat of the Party in Ibadan, Oyo State, witnessed the presence of esteemed leaders including the former State Party Chairman, Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha, Hon. Ayo Olopoeyan, Hon. Wale Saminu, and the 10 Local Government Party Chairmen alongside the Chairmanship Candidates from Òkè Ogun Zone.
Coordinated by the State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the gathering also included members of the State Executives such as the State Youth Leader and Acting Publicity Secretary, Micheal Ogunsina, the Oyo North Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Folawiyo Oladipupo, and the Oyo South Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon. Oladejo Taofeek, among others.
In a statement released to the media by the Acting Publicity Secretary, it was highlighted that leaders like Alhaji Azeez Ajinawo, Alhaji Adele Alawiye, Chief Orotona Oshinkayode, Chief Isaiah Oke, Alhaji Niyi Ahmed, and Hon. Jacob Bamore were instrumental in leading the returning leaders to the successful meeting.
The Oyo State PDP reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity, unity, and effective integration of all members, ensuring a formidable and united front as we collectively work towards the progress and development of our great state.
