RESUSCITATION OF THE PORT HARCOURT REFINERY : THE FIRST TIME IN A WHILE FOR NIGERIA

Like I have stated before now that Nigeria has not been governed for a while now. Nigeria has been on autopilot with powerful political forces and actors influencing the better part of the presidential decisions.

However, in the past six months, Nigeria has witnessed maximum governance with decisive futuristic approaches towards making Nigeria an economically viable and self-reliant nation.

Meanwhile, the resuscitation of Port Harcourt Refinery is another testament of purposeful leadership and selfless governance. This transgenerational feat holds a lot in stock for Nigeria.

Henceforth, the prices of fuel will no longer be determined by how much naira exchanges with dollar at the forex market nor by the international price of crude oil in dollars.

Henceforth, we can now be proud to call ourselves an oil producing nation with the potentials to meeting our energy needs.

However, while I commend you, sir, I have some humble pleas to make. Firstly, I urge you to keep soldiering on to complete the resuscitation of the Warri, Eleme and Kaduna refineries. That way, we can buy our locally refined petroleum products at an average price of #350 per litre without our economy stolen dry in the name of fuel subsidy. Again more, formal and informal jobs will be created and sustained for our energetic young men and women.

Morever, the foreign exchange will receive a boost from the exportation of our local crude without using the proceeds to pay for subsidy thereby stabilising our currency as well as our economy.

Secondly, Mr President, it is my special request that we implement the Naira and Chinese Yuan exchange policy. Once we are able to do this, I can bet anybody that our economy will be the fastest growing economy in Africa.

Thank you, Mr President.

Thank you, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewing our hope.

Indeed, you are a beckon of hope.

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

Dear Dr Betta Edu ,

On behalf of my family, I write to extend my heartiest congratulations to you on your appointment as an honorable Minister in the renewed hope administration.

Your unbelievable speedy political rise in eight years is a testament that you are a goal-getter. From Special Adviser in 2015 to Director General in 2017, to Commisioner for Health in 2019, to Chairman of all Health commissioners in Nigeria in 2021, and then became the Youngest National Woman Leader of any political Party in Africa in 2022 and now the youngest Minister in the Federal Executive council in charge of the entire humanitarian sector.

While you held sway as the Director General of Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the dexterity and diligence you brought to bear that led to the revitalization of over 200 Primary Healthcare Centres in line with President Muhammadu Buhari's revitalization policy bespoke of your unprecedented and patriotic commitment to public service. Then your brain child, "Push System", a child immunization scheme which transformed Cross River State mother and child care, giving it the highest ranking status in child survival rate in Nigeria. And then as a Commissioner for Health, you left indelible footprints at a time when Covid19 threatened the existence of humanity.

Moreover, ahead of the 2023 general election campaign, you unleashed your goal-getting spirit, leading from the front, canvassing and mobilizing women from the four cardinal points of the Niger to buy into His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's renewed hope mantra. Your voice was tearing the political firmaments of Nigeria and appealing to the ears of the political juggernauts to allow our women join the political conversation. You are indeed a detribalised Nigerian. Your dogged contribution acting on your portfolio as APC National Women's Leader was monumental to the emergence of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

To the Jagaban of Africa; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , a veteran politician, a thorough rewarder of loyalty and to your wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu (the true mother of the nation), I most sincerely commend you for granting this SUPER FALCON yet another opportunity to serve the Nigerian people. Mr President, you have broken yet another record as the first president to appoint the youngest minister in the history of Nigeria in the person of Dr Betta Edu.

Meanwhile, Dear Dr Betta Edu, you have always shown the I-can-do spirit in all the postiions held so far, hence I am blatantly optimistic that you are going to deliver excellently on your new role. Wishing you the best of luck while extending the assurances of my highest regard to Asiwaju for taking yet another step at the right direction.

FOR THE SAKE OF EQUITY AND JUSTICE: THE CREATION OF *ABA STATE* IS LONG OVERDUE

I just read an open letter written by the member representing the good people of Nnewi North Constituency, Hon. Sir Augustine Onyekachukwu Ike to Mr President, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu therein he prayed Mr President to create 'Ikemba State' (in the honour of Late Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu, the Ikemba of Nnewi) out of the present day Anambra in other to strike balance of six states in each geopolitical unit. While I sincerely commend his courage for speaking up when many of us have lost our voices, some factors must be reconsidered.

I must first of all state emphatically that the South East should as a matter of equity and fairness urgently be given another state to equate the number of states in other geopolitical zones. However, if such should be done, then it should be the creation of *ABA STATE*.

For the records, as far back as January 1982, the House of Representatives passed a motion for a referendum on the creation of Aba, Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu states from the then Anambra and Imo States which was also later passed by the Senate in June 1983. In 1991, all the proposed states were carved out and created except *ABA STATE*. And forty one years after, nothing has been heard or said about the implementation of the said motion.

Logically, if elder statesmen like Akanu Ibiam and Dr M.I. Okpara have been honoured by creating states dear to them while alive, it is a moral burden that Late Senator Jaja Nwachukwu who established the Aviation School in Zaria and the first External Affairs Minister should be compensated by creating Aba state in his honour.

Demographically and economically, Aba city, which would be the economic city of the proposed *ABA STATE* hosts the largest private Igbo investments in the South East. There is no family in South East whose tentacles are not in Aba. Based on the 1963 census, the proposed *ABA STATE* has a population of over 5.6million people.

Moreover, the map and development plans of *ABA STATE* have been drawn over thirty years ago, hence the creation of Aba State is long overdue.

Meanwhile, I call on all the senators and members of House of Representatives from the Old Aba Zone to renew calls and tenaciously pursue the course for the realization of *ABA STATE* as there's no other people-oriented bill greater than the fight for justice and equity. At the same time, Mr President should see the need to strike a balance by giving the South Easterners another state for the sake of equity.

2023 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Environmentalists and their like-minds gathered all over the world today to chart a course on how to preserve our fast dying world and environment as they deliberated on the topic: SOLUTIONS TO PLASTIC POLLUTION.

As I joined the Deputy Vice-chancellor Academics of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike , Prof. Udo Herbert, her Deputy Vice-chancellor Adminstration counterpart, students and other academics from the college of environmental sciences to ruminate on this topic while acting as the chairman/special guest of honor of the lecture and occasion,I reminded the scholars specifically that an estimated 8million tons of plastic waste materials end up in the oceans ,thereby harming Marine lives and the entire ecosystem. I suggested that we need a multifaceted approach to solving this problem:

1. We need to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics.

2. Companies and businesses should adopt sustainable practices like switching over to biodegradable packaging materials.

3. Recycling should be the next bus stop for all plastic companies and governments across should back it up with laws.

4. The government and academia should sponsor and engage in massive creation of awareness on the dangers of indiscriminate disposal of plastic materials.

5. Finally, I further suggested that plastic companies and other companies alike that use plastics for packaging should introduce incentives approach so the customers can return the plastics after usage for onward recycling thereby making the sorting and collection of single-use plastics feasible.

The highlight of the lecture/event was the planting of economic trees and flowers in the school environment.

A clean ,green and healthy environment is possible.

The best way to start is to choose the right career, the first step to take is to consider your passion and the shortest route to take is your area of strength and competence.

Obviously, the cameraman chose the wrong career. I imagine him as an athlete how many gold 🏅 medals he would have won.

LEADERSHIP CAN HAPPEN TO US IF WE ARE INTENTIONAL

Before the discovery of vast oil reserve in the Middle East region ,water and sewage systems were almost non-existent there. Likewise deep water ports to unload ships. Many roads were more than dirt tracks and their lands were arid and barren. Today, the video here attached is the creation of a sea in the deserts of United Arab Emirates just last week even as they have built one of the finest road networks in the world. They've built ivory towers and skyscrapers in their hinterlands to the admiration of the international tourists and have turned their hills to the adventurers' bride.

Who doesn't want to go to UAE to behold the world's most fascinating architectural wonders? In one of my trips to Dubai, I ran into some women in the tour bus and they introduced themselves to me as ship owners from Australia. Their tourist attraction was chiefly to see the Dubai skyscrapers. Here is a country that had nothing in the early 80s.

In Saudi Arabia for instance, Amraco (a US/Saudi Joint Company) has constructed the tapline to the Mediterranean and other irrigation systems which have made Saudi Arabia self-reliant in the production of wheat. In one of my interviews, I remember suggesting that the Federal Government lay a water pipeline from River Benue to the vast lands of Niger, Yobe and Borno States to enable us produce enough food for the whole Africa.

I remember in the 90s when Chinese visa was used to "disvirgin" one's passport. Today, the Chinese are the major lenders to most African countries including Nigeria.

To me, Leadership is everything. Nigeria is a land flowing with milk and honey but our bane is quality leadership. Let's go back to not-too-long-ago, when all the insurgency was in Borno state with all manners of stories emanating from the Sambisa forest. At some point, it was only Maiduguri that was not under the control of Boko haram. In fact when the present Governor of Borno, Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum started, there were two attempts on his life by the insurgents.
Today Borno seems to be the safest state in Nigeria even when insurgency keeps ravaging their neighbouring states. Not even the baptised Boko Haram; did I hear you call them bandits have any foothold in Borno State. When was the last time you read Borno State in the news for the wrong reasons? Leadership happened to them.

There are two ways Leadership can happen to a people:
1. By stroke of Luck or
2. By sheer determination of the people to be intentional in choosing who leads them.

For us, we have waited too long for luck, time has come for us to go for OPTION TWO. Yes, it is possible and it takes just a committed Leader. Nigerians, let's go there!

To be continued....

Nothing ignites optimism than hope. It wakes dreams, it sustains aspirations, it shapes the future. Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.

The Ngwa Patriots Forum just concluded her 2022 quarterly meeting in Owerri.

It was indeed a gathering of eagles as many Ngwa finests sat together to chart a common course. I ceased the golden opportunity to present some copies of The Need Assessment Document of the entire Ngwaland while I commended the Need Assessment Committee ably led by Sir Endi Ezengwa for a job well done.

With the developmental magic Need Assessment documentations have done in many Asian countries, I am optimistic that after the public presentation of this all-important document, it will serve as a yardstick for all-round and even development across the entire Ngwaland.

Like the popular saying goes, "Prison and cross forerun the throne".

Prayer is good, fasting is a fantastic spiritual exercise but for possible financial breakthrough, you must either be a producer/seller of goods or you're rendering services.

I consider this so didactic; just watch👇
