GSS Ilorin Old Boys Association , National Secretariat felicitates with the 2nd Dan ‘Iya of Ilorin.

The National Executive of GSS Ilorin Old Boys Association led by the National President Alh Mohammed Toyin Adebayo paid a courtesy call on Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka on the chieftaincy title conferred on him by His Royal Highness, Alh (Dr.) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin.

The Association expresses appreciation to His Royal Highness for considering Engr. Kale Kawu worthy of the title.

The National President was accompanied by the School Principal Alh Baba Awodi, the National Secretary Mr. Tunde Olarinoye, the Social Secretary Hon. Femi Yusuf and the National Auditor Mr. Biodun Otepola and Ajikobi an Old Boy.

The Association presented a congratulatory letter and roll up banner to identify with the distinguished Old Boy.

Born March 17 over 50 years ago, Ayo Animashaun attended GSS, Ilorin between 1981 and 1986.

After his secondary school education, he attended the Federal Polytechnic Bida , Niger State where he bagged HND in Business Administration in 1993.

Ayo Animashaun is the Chief Executive Officer of Smooth Promotions, an entertainment firm that organizes The Headies Award and publishes the weekly Hip Hop World Magazine.

On the 5th November 2013 , he led his firm to the launch of HipTV on Multichoice DSTV.

With almost three decades of experience in the Media and Entertainment Industry, Ayo sits atop Smooth Promotions Media Group, producing audio visual contents for HipTv and deploying same across digital satellite and terrestrial Tv (including DSTV 324 and GoTV 74) ; in 44 countries across Africa on TV and diverse/multiple digital platforms in the world.

He hosts the annual Headies Awards, discovering and rewarding young talents in Nigeria’s emerging Music Industry.

Hip Hop World Magazine , a weekly Nigerian Music Magazine was established in 1995. It has sponsored The Headies award since the award's inception in 2006. The magazine's publisher is no other than music promoter Ayo Animashaun.

HipTV was launched in July 2007 by Ayo as a broadcast platform for Hip Hop World Magazine but has since risen to become a music and entertainment channel.

On the 5th of November 2013, HipTV was launched on Multichoice's DSTV as a 24-hour channel with a target audience from over 40 countries in Africa.

Ayo Animashaun, who is a proud Old Boy of GSS, Ilorin and an active member of Class Of '86 is happily married with children.

He was in October 2013 listed by Net magazine as one of the most influential people in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.

C O Adebayo is a veteran politician, an administrator and a strong believer in noble ideas. He was elected the Governor of Kwara State under the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria in 1983.

He served as a Minister in the Ministry of Communication, Works and Transport under President Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007.

Cornelius Olatunji was born on the 24th of February 1941 at Igbaja, Kwara State, Nigeria. He was educated at the All Saints Anglican School, Oke Onigbin from 1948 to 1945 ; Secondary education at the Provincial Secondary School now GSS Ilorin from 1956 to 1961. He was the Headboy of his set in 1961.

He later studied at the Government (Barewa) College , Zaria from 1962 to 1963 for Cambridge High School Certificate.
He had his university education at the Ahmadu Bello University from 1964 to 1967 where he graduated with BA (Hons) , English as the best student . For his post graduate studies , he attended the University of Ghana , Legon (Accra) from 1967 to 1969 where he bagged MA degree in English.

Chief Adebayo working career started in 1964 as Operations Assistant at Mobil Headquarters before he began his brilliant teaching career from secondary to university level. He taught at St.Paul’s (Kufena) College Zaria before he moved to University of Ile Ife (now OAU) as a lecturer from 1963 - 1973.

He was appointed the Kwara State Commissioner for Education, Information, Home Affairs and Sport Development at various times between 1975 and 1978. His successful political career started and manifested in 1978 when he was elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria . He was elected as the Governor of Old Kwara State in 1983.

Chief Adebayo is a strong member of of the Afenifere and Middle-Belt Forum. His membership of NADECO made him to be detained and imprisoned at Calabar between 1994 to 1995 by the Abacha regime . He thereafter went on exile between 1995 and 2000, a period he became resident representative of NADECO in Canada.

Chief Cornelius Adebayo would forever be remembered in GSS Ilorin for facilitating the installation of 21 Set of computers , Internet facilities and provision of a generating set for the school.

Barrister Mas'ud Mobolaji Alabelewe was born in Ilorin on the 30th of May 1969.
He attended GSS Ilorin from 1981 to 1986 and proceeded to the School of Basic Studies (SBS) at the then Kwara State College of Technology (Now Kwara State Polytechnic) between 1986 and 1988.

He had his university education at the Faculty Of Law of the University of Maiduguri between 1988 to 1992. He was called to the Bar in December 1993 after passing his Law School examinations.

He is currently Principal Partner of Mas'ud Alabelewe & Co. Suite 005, Choice Plaza, 23/24 Alkali Road Kaduna, Kaduna State.

Mas'ud Mobolaji Alabelewe, a proud Old Boy of the Class of '86 was the National Welfare Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) between 2014 -2016.

Denja Yahaya Abdullahi is a Poet, Dramatist, Playwright, Arts Administrator, Africanist Scholar and a Culture Technocrat

He graduated from GSS Ilorin in 1986 as the set’s Deputy Headboy.

For Higher Education, he attended University of Jos and University of Ilorin.

His poems, critical essays and other literary pieces have appeared in several books, specialized academic journals and anthologies.

He has 13 published books to his credit ranging from collections of Poetry, Plays , Collected Interviews and Co-edited Scholarly Texts

Denja, apart from lecturing and other public service vocations, has also practised active journalism with The News/A.M News/Tempo Group in Lagos, Nigeria in the 90s.

He is presently a Director with the National Council for Arts and Culture, in Abuja, Nigeria.

He is the immediate past President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and a UNESCO-certified expert on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Denja Abdullahi, an active member of the GSS, Ilorin Class Of '86 has contributed to his Alma mater by way of donation of literary and creative textbooks to the school over the years and the last was the donation of 1000 books and a bookshelf in November 2021 which he facilitated through the National Secretariat of the Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA).

Denja is an embodiment of cultural preservation , the unborn generations will no doubt benefit immensely from his literary and visual work.

Professor Moshood Mustapha was born in Ilorin over 50 years ago . He is a proud Old Boy of GSS Ilorin- a member of 1986 graduating set.

He got admitted into the University of Ilorin in 1986 immediately after leaving Secondary School where he studied Zoology and graduated in 1990.

He won the University Undergraduate Scholarships and Best Scholars Award in 1990 and was the Best Student in his class during his undergraduate days.
He holds a Masters and Doctorate Degrees also in Zoology from the University of Ilorin and specializes in Fisheries, Aquaculture and Hydrobiology.

He has published over 70 Journal Publications in reputable Local , National and International Journals.

He was a visiting Researcher at the Mississippi State University, Starkville, USA from 2006 to 2007.

Post Poctorate Research Fellow at Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research Madgeburg, Germany 2013.

He has been involved in various community services, including :

Aquatic Resources Conservation Programmes.

Lakes and Reservoir Improvement, Preservation and Management Programmes.

He is a member of Science Committee for the establishment of Muhammad Kamaldeen University, Ilorin, Nigeria among others.

He is an active member of GSS, Ilorin Old Boys Association, Class of 1986.

He loves playing Table Tennis, Research, Reading and Visiting Places of Interest
He is happily married with children.

Who is this fine Old Boy???

Engr. Suleiman Ayinde Yahya Alapansanpa is the symbol of the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar.
Under his watch as the National President of GSS Ilorin Old Boys Association, enormous achievement was recorded in returning the School back to its glory days. A modern ICT Laboratory donated by Huawei in conjunction with YouthHub Africa was delivered and commissioned during his tenure. He also envisioned and laid the golden egg of the National Secretariat and Multipurpose Hall for GSS Ilorin. The foundation laying ceremony was done at the 2021 AGM of the Association.

Engr. Yahaya is an active member of the 1974 set, He facilitated the donation of a bus to the school in 2004 and also a DSTV Satellite.

Engr. Yahya is highly experienced in Power Engineering Projects, Planning Construction, Maintenance and Management. He has on record attendance of various courses, seminars, conferences at home
and in various countries overseas including : the United Kingdom, Poland, South-Africa, India, Beijing, Shangai, Republic of China, Toranto, Canada among others.
He rose to the
position of Head, Technical Services Power Holding Company of Nigeria PLC, Eko Distribution Zone.

In recognition of his unalloyed commitment to promoting the rich culture of the Ilorin Emirate, His Royal Highness , Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR conferred on him the prestigious chieftaincy title of Dan Masani of Ilorin.

Engr. Alapansanpa is one of our finest Old Boys , he is thereby celebrated 👌

Yusuf Olanrewaju Sagaya is a seasoned Engineer, Consultant, Businessman , Educationist, Sport Promoter and a Philanthropist.
As the Principal Partner of Yolas Consultants, he exhibits rare commitments and diligence to work that his firm has grown to be one of the leading Consulting Engineering firms in Nigeria; with records of successful designs and supervision of several local and international projects . The firm has trained and sponsored a number of young engineers to esteem positions in the society, as most of successful engineering practitioners within Consultancy unit in Nigeria have one way or the other passed through his tutelage.
At present , Yolas Consultants employ more than 150 professionals engaged on various project sites spread across the state of the Federation.
Engr. Sagaya single handedly re-built the completely burnt down two blocks of Alanamu House Hostel of GSS Ilorin, his Alma mater in 2006.
Lanre Sagaya, Zanna of Ilorin is being celebrated .
