*VARIOUS MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT NURSING*

1. Nursing is for women: Nursing has traditionally been predominantly female in the Western World, so it is only natural for the idea that only women can/should be nurses. Not only is this an absurd idea, but that stigma is what drives away men from joining the field.
It is time that we grasped the nettle and busted the myth that nursing is only a career for women.
The medical profession's gender imbalance has changed in recent times, so it is time that the gender imbalance within nursing follows suit.

2. Nursing is about following orders: This is a general perception in the media , Nurses are shown as Doctor's assistance, which influences the image of Nurses in real life.
The fact is Nursing is a profession which has autonomy functions as well as irreplaceable role players in the medical Team.
Nurses function by following the Nursing process which is a unique scientific approach tailored towards the care of individual patients.

3. Nurses only do menial Task: Nurses engage in complex and skilled work which also involves saving lives on a daily basis. Some of the tasks that have become daily necessities might look menial , however, the truth is sound intellectual knowledge, keen observation, and detailed assessment and problem solving are associated with these menial tasks,
These are works that need many years of study.

4. All Nurses do the Same work: Another misconception about Nursing is that all Nurses do the same work, it's believed that doctors study to gain specialization in several fields of medicine , but so many people are unaware that Nurses specialise also. Nurses possess a distinct set of skills that enable them to perform diverse roles across the health sector after completing specific knowledge in higher education.

We are pleased to announce to the public the release of the list of successful candidates who participated in the Post-Basic Nursing and Basic Midwifery Programs examinations of the Plateau State College of Nursing Sciences Vom, conducted on the 16th of March, 2024, and the 6th of April, 2024, respectively.

The lists of successful candidates qualified for interview into the programs are now available and posted on the college notice boards at Jos, Vom, and the Ministry of Health headquarters at the JD Gomwalk Secretariat.

*Date:* 14th to 16th of May, 2024

*Time:* 8:00 am prompt

*Venue:* College of Nursing Sciences, Vom

*POST-BASIC NURSING*

*Tuesday 14th May:* all Local Government areas of Plateau State.

*Wednesday 15th May:* Other States/Spill overs.

*BASIC MIDWIFERY PROGRAMME*

*Date: Tuesday, 14th May:* Qua'anpan, Shendam, Mikang, Langtang North, Langtang South, Pankshin, Mangu, Bokkos.

*Wednesday,15th May:* Kanam, Kanke, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos South, Jos North.

*Thursday,16th May:* Jos East, Bassa, other states, spill over

All candidates are to bring along;

The originals of their credentials, and Post Basic Nursing candidates are to present their midwifery certificates or notification of registration and current practice licence.

All candidates are required to strictly adhere to their respective interview dates, as no candidates will be attended to after these specified dates.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Cake

Ingredients:

Chocolate Cake:
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 + 1/8 cup Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 large egg
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup boiling water
Eggless Cookie Dough:
6 tbsp butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup flour (heat treated)
1–2 tsp milk
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Ice Cream:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
8 oz Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream)
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Additional:
4–8 oz Cool Whip for icing
Additional mini chocolate chips for decorating
Chocolate sauce, if desired

Directions:

Chocolate Cake:
Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Blend in the egg, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add boiling water.
Pour the batter into two 8-inch pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool and level the tops.
Eggless Cookie Dough:
Cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in vanilla, then gradually add flour and milk until well combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Form the dough into small balls and chill in the refrigerator.
Ice Cream:
Blend cream cheese, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Gently fold in Cool Whip and chocolate chips. Incorporate the chilled cookie dough balls.
Assembly:
Line a springform pan with parchment paper.
Layer the cake and ice cream mixture alternately, freezing each layer before adding the next.
Once assembled, freeze the cake until firm.
Decorate with Cool Whip, extra chocolate chips, and drizzle with chocolate sauce before serving.
