They help also to further the mission and support the training of seminarians around the world

St. Augustine Major Seminary, Jos is a prominent seminary in Nigeria that trains and educates future priests for the Catholic Church worldwide with most seminaries across Nigeria as beneficiaries.

THE GREAT EASTER SUNDAY

MEDIA EDUCATION WORKSHOP FOR SEMINARIANS BY NATIONAL
DIRECTORATE OF SOCIAL
COMMUNICATION

In a bid to equip future religious leaders with media literacy skills in the digital age, an intensive Media Education Workshop has been organized by the National Directorate of Social Communication, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja across Major Seminaries in Nigeria will also be conducted at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos, Nigeria. The workshop aims to educate seminarians on the responsible use of media and its role in modern communication.
During the workshop, participants will be engaged in interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises to enhance their understanding of media concepts and tools. They will be encouraged to critically analyze media content, discern misinformation, and contribute positively to public discourse through various media channels.
Speaking at the workshop on the opening day, Padre Mike Umoh the Director emphasized the vital role of seminarians as future leaders and influencers in society. He highlighted the need for religious institutions to embrace media education and empower their members to navigate the complex media landscape with integrity and discernment.
The Media Education Workshop at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos and across all seminaries in Nigeria will serve as a significant step towards fostering a media-literate clergy in Nigeria. By equipping seminarians with the necessary skills to engage with media thoughtfully and ethically, the workshop aims to empower them to become informed communicators and advocates for truth and justice in an increasingly digital world.
