The transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the full restoration of electricity in Nigeria after the country’s national grid collapsed on Wednesday, July 30.

"However, despite of setbacks encountered at the initial stage, grid restoration had almost been completed as at 11:00pm when this report was filed,” TCN said.

Insecurity: FG considering a ban on motorcycles nationwide — AGF

The National Security Council on Thursday announced that it is considering a nationwide ban on motorcycles and mining activities in the country as part of its strategy to curb terr@rist activities, checkmate loopholes and cut off their sources of funding.

This was the outcome of the meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

Addressing state house correspondents after the meeting, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, said the administration’s consideration of the wholesale ban was forced by the raging insecurity that has shown no signs of subsiding despite concerted efforts of security agencies.

“The government would look into that possibility with particular regard to restriction on use and distribution of motorcycles which is the most conventional logistical means being deployed by terr@rists.”

Mr Malami said the determination did not come easy for the administration, warning that Nigerians are likely to bear harsh economic implications of the move. The attorney-general said federal authorities have been able to find a connection between motorcycles, mining operations and insecurity across the country. He, however, failed to clarify why the measure was being considered nationwide.

“The opportunistic nature of these activities ties strongly to the fact that gold is often the favoured mineral of the terr@rists groups as many of these groups use this to secure a source of funding for future operations.”.

Mr Malami did not immediately say when the ban would be announced, or whether it would be debated openly prior to implementation, but he insisted that the administration would not disregard its intelligence report that recommended banning motorcycles to control the flow of money and other resources to rampaging outlaws.

Man arrested for allegedly stealing a mosque's generator and amplifier and lavishing the N6000 he made after selling them on Indian h**p

The police in Adamawa state have arrested and arraigned a man simply identified as Umar Sani for allegedly stealing a generator and amplifier belonging to a mosque in Yola, Adamawa State capital.

Umar was arraigned before the Jimeta Area Court II presided by Hon. Muhammad Alamin Diya Lamurde, on Tuesday July 19 by the before.

While in the dock, the suspect confessed that he and the son of their Ward of Head stormed Rumde Baru mosque on Sunday by 12:00, when nobody was in the mosque.

He narrated that they carted away the items (generator, amplifier and other electrical appliances) and sold each at the sum N6,000 and lavished the proceeds on indian h**p with friends.

"We expended the entire proceeds on Indian h**p"Umar said

The police Prosecutor, Cpl Ismail, informed the mgistrate, Hon. Alamin Lamurde that the defendant was apprehended by the operatives attached to Jambutu Division. The defendant pleaded guilty and the court ordered that he be remanded in prison custody and subsequently adjourned the matter till August 2nd for summary trial as applied by the Prosecutor.

Sixteen year old boy's eyes plucked out by his 'employer' in Bauchi-Yelwa

A 16-year-old boy identified as Uzairu Salisu, has had his eyes plucked out by his employer in the Dutsen Jira area of Yelwa area in Bauchi state on Thursday, June 23.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakili, says the incident was reported to the police by the village head.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim's name is Uzairu Salisu 'M' of kwanan Gulmammu Jahun Quarters.

The victim stated that One Ibrahim of Rafin Zurfi whom he knows for some time lured him to the Bush for a menial job on his farm, The suspect Ibrahim used a cable wire to strangulate the victim and remove his two eyes.''the statement read

Wakili said that the victim is currently in the Abubakar Tafawabalewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) receiving medical attention while efforts are being made to arrest the suspect.

Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina has tackled Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, for saying Buhari government is ' the most corrupt regime in the history of Nigeria'.

Oyedepo who spoke at a church service on Monday June 13, had accused the government of not caring about the welfare of the citizens, especially students. He also averred that the N80bn suspended Accountant-General of the Federation is accused of diverting, could have been channeled to meet the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The cleric said “Many children are out of school. There is nothing to pay to get them to school. We saw some folks in Covenant that we had to help out to graduate. N30,000, first class graduates can’t get the money under this wicked government, selfish, self-centered.

“What a fight against corruption. You were all deceived. You can’t be in corruption and fight corruption — the most corrupt regime in the history of Nigeria.

“You heard of auditor-general, N80 billion. All they need to pay for the universities to be up and running is less than N80 billion. Are they interested? Their children are not there.”

Reacting to this, Femi Adesina said Oyedepo couldn't get his facts right because he's been "blinded by hatred for President Muhammadu Buhari." He also claimed that the cleric doesn't know "the difference between Accountant General (only alleged) and Auditor General".
