Kaduna Gov'ship Election: Tribunal Admits INEC Form EC8A, EC8B, Others As Exhibits From Ashiru

All exhibits tendered by the gubernatorial candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Isa Ashiru were all admitted by the Tribunal.

The 3-man panel of the Tribunal headed by Justice Victor Oviawie admitted the INEC Form EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D, EC8E and EC40G series from various polling units and Local Government Areas of the state as exhibits, being tendered by the 1st and 2nd petitioners' lead cousel, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN) on Tuesday.

While presenting the exhibits to the court, one of the counsels to the PDP and its candidate, Dr. Ayodele Adewole (SAN), also submitted voters registers' sheets for 40 polling units with reference to Kaduna South Local Government as parts of the exhibits.

The PDP counsel also submitted exhibits from Giwa, Chickun, Igabi, Kachia, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Kagarko, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Sabon-Gari and Zaria respectively.

Earlier, the counsel to the 1st (INEC), 2nd (Uba Sani) and 3rd (APC) respondents argued that the petitioner's counsel had breached the court order, which instructed that all parties (counsels) should meet for the up taking of the exhibits before the presentation.

In his argument, the counsel to the 3rd respondent, Muh'd Sani Katu, who sought for adjournment of the case, explained that the order of the court was that all counsels should meet for sorting and marking of the exhibits for orderliness.

" We can not proceed as it stands, this is because the order is not been complied with," the counsel argued.

In his defence, the lead counsel to both the PDP and Ashiru, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN) objected, explained that they (the counsels to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respondents) were given the opportunity for sorting, marking and to study the said exhibits before today's sitting but failed to sshow upas ordered by the court.

" The court registrar can attest to the fact that the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rerespondents'ounsels were given the opportunity, and several efforts were made for them to come for the sorting and marking of the exhibits but, they declined," PDP lead counsel explained.

Upon considering the submissions of the counsel the court ruled that all exhibits be submitted to the court by the petitioner's counsel.

Also, Iyamu (SAN) explained to the court that more documents were expected from the INEC, which according to him, are part of exhibits to be tendered.

The case ha has been adjourned till 10th July, 2023 for the continuation of the presentation of exhibits by the petitioners' counsel.

I want to use this medium to thank the good people of Kaduna state for coming out en masse to welcome our incoming President ( In sha Allah) His Excellency Atiku Abubakar during his 3-day visit to kaduna state that culminated in the grand rally on Monday 17th October 2022. You have once agin demonstrated to the general public that Kaduna is a stronghold of the PDP in Nigeria which justifies your giving Alh Atiku Abubakar the highest number of votes in 2019.

I also want to condemn in strong terms the unscrupulous act of hired political thugs who came to the venue of the rally to cause violence. This action has indeed no place in our state and nascent democracy. I salute the civil and courageous conduct of our party members for refusing to be intimidated by that cowardly act. You have by your action shown that we are ready for the change this government both at state and Federal level.

I call on the relevant security agencies to investigate this act and bring perpetrators and violators of the recently signed peace accord by political parties to book.

TINUBU NOT FIT OR PREPARED FOR PRESIDENCY

The APC presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, plunged into new depths of desecration when by an unguarded and unrelated flow of thought he despised the body of Christ by profaning the sacrament of communion and besmirched the church.

In the same breath he trivialised the existential threat that climate change poses to humanity.

Furthermore, he fell out of tune with world leaders in ways that betrayed a lack of understanding of what the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Called the "Fierce Urgency of Now".

Having overlooked Christians in his choice of a running mate, he further rubbed insult on injury by calling in the Holy Communion into an unrelated conversation. It would have been honourable for Tinubu to simply admit that he didn't know what climate change is. Again, that exposed his limited understanding and poor preparation for governance. Any leader of any great nation who does not understand the basics of climate change, especially with the ongoing flooding in Nigeria and the economic conflict arising from farmers and herders, has no business aspiring to lead our dear country at this moment.

Besides, Nigerians who have been in doubt about the presence of mind and the physiological capacity of Tinubu to preside over the affairs of Nigeria should now be convinced that he is not fit. For a moment, his thought processes tripped and he launched into another issue entirely. Nigerians could imagine if what happened in Kaduna had happened on the world stage. As I said earlier, Nigerians can not afford to gamble with the next election.

An Atiku presidency will not only be at home with global issues anywhere and anytime. He would build bridges and partnerships to address contemporary and emerging issues with pace, purpose and patience. He will collaborate with others to contain the causes and effects of climate change and more importantly, he will work for structures that will help Nigeria to build the resilience and adaptation to climate change, particularly in climate smart agriculture and other strategic initiatives.
