VERNACULAR BUILDINGS

Vernacular buildings are true reflection of the vast and rich traditional heritage of a people. They are also a reflection of a sustainable construction within a geographical space. There is an urgent need for indigenous architects to revisit past experiences regarding vernacular buildings. This is because, vernacular materials and styles have been identified as important for green buildings and energy saving buildings as well as a true reflection of the cultural heritage of a people.
