Merry Christmas Family ❤️🎄. Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to think of the one who was born to die so all may live! And to know that because of this, we have a living hope. And our hope will never be ashamed.
Here’s a reminder to catch up on last weeks episode if you haven’t 🎉🎉🎉. We talk about handling intrusive thoughts and the nature of these thoughts in general.
Have you listened to our episode on attachment styles?
You should, attachment styles are a great way to understand ourselves better and how we act in relationships and what influences that .
A good day to add color to the little things in your life by being grateful for them.
And also an amazing day to catch up on the first episode on our podcast!!!
You don’t have to “breakdown” before you take care of your mental health. Just as you don’t have to be starving before you eat. Just as you don’t need to be in trouble or need something before you pray.
You can book a session just because. It can be routine to cater to your mental health needs.
Today is World su***de Prevention Day and we take out time to celebrate those who survived attempts and ideations 💚. We’re glad you’re here, we’re glad you exist and God has a plan for you on earth. I pray you discover purpose and walk in it. Thank you for staying.
July 25th is National Schizophrenia Awareness Day.
There’s a lot of misconceptions surrounding schizophrenia and some of them are;
1. Schizophrenia is having multiple personalities (this is not true, because of the nature of delusions and hallucinations they can see and talk to other people that are not real, they are not other personalities (or extensions of themselves) but are different people totally.
2. All schizophrenics are violent: this is not true at all.
3. There is no cure for schizophrenia:
Schizophrenia can be harder to treat than other mental health conditions, but part of that is because some people may not even realize they are demonstrating schizophrenia symptoms. That being said, schizophrenia treatment does exist, and it can help you.
All in all, everyone deserves care and to be treated with dignity no matter the mental illness attached to that person. Schizophrenics are not the worse of the bunch, and the stigma surrounding schizophrenia is cruel. We take days like this to shine the spotlight on people with schizophrenia and how we need to unlearn misconceptions grow in our understanding of both the illness and those affected.
I was studying 1st Kings 19 today which I’ve decided is in my top 10 chapters of the Bible 😅 (this list keeps changing and I’m okay with it).
This chapter tells us about Elijah in his mess. He ran away because of a threat from Jezebel and in this moment, he was not only sacred, he was frustrated and he felt alone, he felt like no one could relate with what he was going through and that led to the hopeless sigh for release “take my life Lord, I don’t want to live anymore”.
In this moment, we have an opportunity to see how God will react to feelings like that and statements like that. And we see that he didn’t react in anger or disappointment. His answer was care and a reminder of purpose.
In case you were wondering, God sees your mess, he’s right there with you, ready to strengthen, ready to care ❤️.
Did this bless you? Like and share!
A while back, I was anxious about something and I was looking for a way to not be anxious anymore then this scripture popped in my head and I was like isn’t this dismissive?
It felt like telling someone who’s shy to not be shy anymore or telling someone who’s depressed to be happy. But on closer inspection it’s not.
Instead it’s providing you with a coping strategy to anxiety. Instead of interpreting it as “don’t be anxious” interpret it as “when anxious, pray about it.
This also applies to general anxiety, intrusive thoughts etc. Amongst the many coping strategies for anxiety & stress, Paul is telling us that prayer and thanksgiving work too.
It’s MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 2023. It’s theme is Anxiety and what we can do to prevent it.
At BMH, we’ve titled our series in this regard “ ”.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; This is an instruction to us but sometimes we find ourselves being overwhelmed and anxious. What do we do then? Follow us to find out!

Your mind can be a battlefield. Your thoughts can lie to you, your may emotions (while valid) may not be factual and that can make your mind an unsafe space for you at any points. I believe knowledge is one weapon we can use in this state. What do you know to be true? Who can you trust? This is on of the reasons I love the Lord, he can be trusted. He’s reliable and he doesn’t waver and so in the heat of battle I have my weapon of trustworthiness and the faithfulness of God. If I know nothing else at least I know this!
Reminder, anything you don’t deal with doesn’t go away it persists especially when it comes to our mental health.
We actively have to work to heal our wounds we are focused on helping you work through wounds and find healing so nothing persists. Reach out to us to book your free Christian Counseling session.
For some Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate romantic love with their partners, for others they celebrate love shared with friends and family. For all, we can celebrate the love that surpasses all things that is the love of Christ and which ever category you fall into remember you’re never not deserving of love. Happy Valentine’s Day Family ❤️
There’s something about hope that brings safety. If we have hope about our lives we’ll definitely feel safer within us and when we feel safe it reflects on our nervous systems (our thoughts and emotions).
It’s more beautiful to learn that hope isn’t just in the things that are temporary but also in the permanence of God’s love for us (Romans 8:5). We’re never without hope because he loves us. So whatever we’re feeling now, we look at it through hope colors lenses.
You’re just going through a tough time. This doesn’t have to mean anything else but that. It doesn’t mean that you’ll always have a tough time. It doesn’t prove that you’re unworthy or unfaithful. It just means that right now you’re not okay and that’s okay. Don’t give it permanence in your life just know as it most things it’ll pass, there will always be opportunities for things to get better because we have a lovely hope in Christ Jesus. (Romans 5 vs 3-5)
“But that’s not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance. And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. And this hope is not a disappointing fantasy, because we can now experience the endless love of God cascading into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who lives in us!”
Romans 5:3-5 TPT
We’re also a DM away to help you through these days/moments
Is it okay to take medication for mental health treatment?
Yes. Remember medicine is not your enemy. If during your treatment process, your clinician recommends taking medication there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. You’re not less of a believer for taking medication. Or less of a human being in fact. The fact that you’re taking medication doesn’t mean anything other than you’re taking medication. It doesn’t mean you don’t have faith, it doesn’t mean you’ve given up, it doesn’t mean your case is worse. It just means you’re taking something that could improve your health and well-being.
Our DM’s are open for more questions
An important thing to remember about any trauma response is that it was a way to survive and cope in a stressful and unfair situation. While hyper-independence can cause problems, it likely helped you survive a traumatic situation if you developed this response. You can acknowledge how this response helped you at the time while working to let go of behavior that no longer serves us as we heal. If you need someone to walk you through this process of developing better coping skills you can reach out to us via dm.
Happy new year Family ❤️. Thank you for 2022!!
Starting the new year comes with a lot of pressure especially when it comes to achievements and this may bring anxiety, depression and even trigger low slef-esteem. We have to remember admist the goal setting and self-improvement that the most important asset you have is YOU! Not how many goals you achieved or didn’t achieve, not tying your worth to any accomplishment but just YOU and what’s most important to you too (which should be Christ) and even he puts you first before any accomplishments.
Things to do as the year comes to an end.
Which of these have you been practicing lately? & which would you love to start doing?
#2022
HANDLING ANXIETY ATTACKS
Anxiety is not imagined
Anxiety is very real, you feel it in you and all around you.
It’s the thick weight on your chest. It’s the heat that flows throughout your body and lands on your fingertips and you can’t stay still
It’s in your legs shaking
It’s in your whole body fidgeting
It’s in your breathing heavily
It’s in the hair pulling
It’s in the clenching and unclenching of your palms and feet
It’s everywhere
It’s in the gut feeling you can’t explain
It’s in the blurred vision
It’s in the body movement you can’t control
It’s everywhere; in you and all around you
It’s more a physical thing than a mental thing. The mind is the least engaged in anxiety that’s why instead of focusing on those running thoughts you can try focusing on the body.
Still the breathing
Relax the muscles
Still the movement
Then deal with the thoughts
For every thought there is an answer in scripture
For every what if there is an answer in scripture
And sometimes when eloquence fails us
Remember peace, true peace the only peace that could come from God. Peace that can’t be explained
Peace that passeth all understanding
Peace that stills
And rest there
Everything will be alright not because of anything I’ll do or won’t do but because my God is peace
Focus on peace
Listen to songs about his peace, let that peace reassure you.
Happy new month to you from . This year has been so good for us here at BMH and we’re grateful for the growth and grateful to all of you, our supporters.
What are you most grateful for this year?
We do a lot of work and we need your help so we can reach more people. The link in our bio is active and we’re accepting volunteers and partners. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to saints and serve the community.

Cognitive efficiency refers to optimal use of mental resources. Are we doing too much thereby leading ourselves through cycles of burnout? Or are we not doing enough thereby leading ourselves through cycles of fear and self-sabotage.
Reflecting on your mental state and use of mental resources is a good way to take care of yourself. By doing this you can perceive what exactly you need for your mental state? Is it rest? accountability or a mindset shift? Remember our counselors can help you build cognitive efficiency send a DM to book a slot for a free counseling session with us!
A reminder that we offer free counseling sessions. Please share to as many people as possible let’s get the word out there!!!

Why do I always go for people I know will not be good for me? Why do I always want to fix/change people? The answer may be that you’re codependent.
We’ve been learning our series “Childhood trauma” to see how it plays out in our adult life & relationships. Children who grow up in a dysfunctional home where the adults neglected them often find themselves wanting or needing to help others. You might find yourself in cycles where the neglectful pattern of the parent figure is what you’ll feel drawn to because maybe if they try hard this time, the other person will finally be helped and act right.
But codependency is not God’s will for your life.“Each one of us must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, ESV). Can you imagine Jesus helping others for those reasons? Of course not. He helped others because He was doing His Father’s work for His Father’s glory. He willingly met the needs of those who were hungry, sick, and demon-possessed — but He didn’t help everyone, and He didn’t help all the time. You’re not the “fixer” friend you may just be codependent.
One step to healing from this is admitting to yourself the cost of codependency, getting more aware of patterns and healing your inner child, getting better at setting boundaries. You can send us a DM to book a session
This post is to encourage you to always remember God is a God of miracles. Thankfully we don’t have to pick and choose, where it’s either Faith or therapy. No! We shouldn’t stop praying because we’re in therapy and we shouldn’t stop therapy because we have faith. The supernatural is still active, God’s power is still active in us through his spirit. Never forget the place of miracles! You may have been disappointed before but dare to believe just once more. Build your convictions that no matter how many times you’ve been disappointed, you will never lose hope in a miracle ❤️.
Prayer still works, God still heals miraculously.
