When it comes to grooming, the Lhasa Apso is high maintenance, they do not fall under low maintenance dog breed.

Its LONG and LUXURIOUS coats can get tangled if not cared for properly.
Daily brushing and monthly baths are highly recommended for these dogs.

*Brief History of Lhasa Apso *

The Lhasa Apso dog breed originated from Tibet, for thousands of years, the Lhasa served as watchdogs in the palace and monasteries of their mountainous homeland.

Today, the Lhasa is no longer a palace guard but a FAMILY COMPANION who protects their family from danger.

The Lhasa is also known as “Abso Seng Kye” in their homeland which translates as “Bark Lion Sentinel Dog”.

Recorded history of the breed goes back to 800 B.C. A Lhasa was considered good-luck and prosperity.

Lhasa is the name of Tibet’s holy city, currently its capital; Apso means “longhaired dog”.
