What Symphony! What Rhythm!

The above is the title of one of my songs.

The angels in heaven gave me that song through a dream.

Boy...I woke up and began writing.

“Since the year 2017 I started composing choral music.

It was in that year that I learnt how to read solfa notations. After I got the idea, I thought, “why don't I write my music too. If one does it like this, I could do mine like that too."

And so the journey began.

I was afraid to put this note here, add that draw there, raise the pitch, and so on. I trembly got used to this art and enjoyed every bit of it.

Sometimes I'd keep writing and writing a particular song without verses. Just on and on we go! Those were (and are) the compositions I relished the most.

Most times, then, I didn't write from personal inspiration. I'd go through several choral pieces before feeling the urge to write mine. It was difficult this way because I had to calculate -it didn't flow smoothly- forming the melody from someone else's, trying to create it differently. I could feel it was not my melody, it didn't sound cool, but all I wanted was to compose. I have just a copy out of the many 2017's compositions and that, I'm yet to fully harmonize because it's one of those I just wrote down without thinking thrice about.

In 2018 I didn't write any solfa notations down without being inspired supernaturally. Most melodies came to me through visions during naps and sleeps. It got to a point that I ignored some. The ones I happened to write down caused me some disturbance before I put pen on paper. So has it been until recently when even my yawn formed a melody that I wouldn't neglect. I've got a lot of uncompleted compositions, some yet to be harmonized others the fate of their wordings yet to be known.

My only regret is that since the year 2017 till now only a handful of people know I'm a composer. I regret this and blame myself for having not brought out even a few out of the many I've written to be sung. There are songs of 5, 6, 7 pages I feel are too complex for the choir groups I've been privileged to be part of. The kinds of dynamics, multiple parts and the rest that I pour into my compositions make me hide them from the open. Maybe I fear criticism, or disregard for the songs.

But here's the good news: I am releasing 14 of my compositions in different languages! I am so glad that after so many years of hiding -writing and keeping to myself- the world is gonna sing praises to God with the melody He's put in my soul.

As I mentioned somewhere that I wait on God's inspiration before I compose because I believe He's got the melody that can make Him smile and dance and bless us after.

This February, 2022, on the 22nd is a special day to me and a unique date (22.02.22) because of what will be released to the world. My Catalogue I is scheduled for release on that day (22.02.22).

Be mindful of the date, anticipating ‘THE FEEL OF HEAVEN'."

Hindatinki means “He has risen” in Karai-Karai language. Karai-Karai is a minor Northern Nigerian language, commonly spoken amongst the people of Potiskum Local Government, Yobe State. Nigeria. The song Hindatinki is an Easter song that tells how the angels sung Alleluia at Jesus Christ’s resurrection. This song is the first song off Maestro GMK's first Catalogue-THE FEEL OF HEAVEN.
Enjoy this Easter tide!

I am yet to meet a music composer who does not believe in God.

We strongly believe that God provides us with the talent, skill and panache we pour into our musical artistry through compositions.
