I am so honoured and grateful to have my work recognized by Women in Journalism Africa, the organisation for leading women journalists operating out of Africa.
Today, WiJ brought together 100 incredible women journalists for a summit and celebration. It was an exclusive, power-packed event dedicated to celebrating excellence and pushing the boundaries of our profession and I was recognized for what was described as my pioneering role in and contribution to the development of sports journalism in Nigeria.
I stopped being a sports reporter in 2003 (21 years ago) when i retired from NTA, but this and other awards I've received convince me that my youth was not wasted.
I am grateful to GOD and to my daughter who received today's award on my behalf.
Happy Independence Day 🇳🇬
Yesterday, I was in Iperu-Remo to witness the commissioning of the reconstructed Sagamu-Iperu-Ode road.
Formerly known as the Old Ibadan Road, this was the main road from Lagos to Ibadan before the Lagos /Ibadan express way was commissioned in 1978.
The Old Ibadan Road is of great economic importance to our people and of nostalgic importance to me as my family house- Ule Baba Eleran- built by my grandfather in 1953 and rebuilt by my father in 1986, stands proudly on that road.
I also joined our mutual friends to celebrate with the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on his 64th birthday.
I was in Abeokuta today as Ogun State hosted the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the South West flag off of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women Agriculture Support Programme.
A grassroots scheme to empower women farmers and reduce poverty across the country, the initiative is supported by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
Two million women are targeted under the programme.
Eid Mubarak 🌙
Attitude of gratitude... thank you, God!

I am devastated by the news of the passing of my dear friend, Herbert Wigwe.
As CEO, Access Holdings, he had such amazing impact in banking and finance, art, education, and philanthropy. Cerebral and quick-witted, he was always a joy to be around. And despite his many achievements, he remained relatable and unassuming.
His death, along with his wife, son, and another friend- former President of the NSE, Bimbo Ogunbanjo- makes this a tragedy of immense proportions. Truly heartbreaking.
May God reward Herbert's good deeds, comfort his parents,- the former NTA DG, Mr. Shyngle Wigwe and his wife, all other members of their respective families, and their many, many friends.
Surely to God we belong and to Him we shall return.
Coercion often creates a reaction that will eventually work against you...
Surely to Allah we belong & to Him we shall return.
Take your well-deserved rest, Ẹgbọn . You were a brilliant, fearless and irrepressible leader. An orator and a deep thinker. May God have mercy on your soul, reward your good deeds, and forgive your shortcomings.🙏
My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Arabinrin and the children. May God comfort and uphold you.
The gift of love. The gift of peace. The gift of laughter and happiness. May all these be yours at Christmas 🎄
Ogun State is the major manufacturing hub in Nigeria. Its status as the primary gateway to Lagos state – the largest market with the busiest ports in Nigeria has contributed to it becoming the Industrial Hub of Nigeria.
Today, I attended the Governor's breakfast meeting with CEOs of companies in Ogun State where he disclosed steps being taken to further radically transform the state with modern infrastructure and deliberate policy steps to attract even more businesses and move the economy from being federal allocation focused, to becoming the state with the biggest IGR in the Federation.
Spent a great day with kith and kin at this year's Akesan Day- the 37th in the series.
The festival brings together sons and daughters of Iperu Remo and wellwishers, which this year included Vice President Kashim Shettima,.Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and scores of other dignitaries.
Happy commemoration as we mark Eid el-Maulud, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the noble prophet, and may we be blessed on account of our asking blessings upon him. ☪️ 🕋 🕌
Division is weakness, unity is strength... 👏 👏
Today, I joined other Ogun State sons and daughters at the Cathedral of St. Peters, Ake, for a thanksgiving service in celebration of the 80th birthday of Kabiyesi, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.
His Royal Majesty continues to be a great example of dedicated leadership and a pillar of support for all of us. We pray for a longer life in good health.

Over the years, I've been privileged to speak with, and learn from, so many brilliant minds in my role as anchor of the TV program- View From The Top.
Here's a throwback to one of such: my 2015 interview with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala .
What's interesting is that 8 years after this conversation, cost of governance is still a big national problem. And while there are no easy solutions to financial problems, according to the then Finance Minister, running a more efficient administration is not rocket science.
Q. Why are old friends better than new friends?
A. Old friends remind you of where you came from (so you can continue to be grateful to God!)
I spent a most wonderful afternoon at the presentation of the autobiography of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark. It was a well attended national event (not surprisingly). However, the best part for me was seeing some old friends, like Eugenia Abu- my former NTA colleague, Senator Osita Izunaso(a friend of about 30 years), and my dear aburo, Ayisha Alubankudi (the younger sister of - my best friend in nursery school)
Get a copy of the book - Brutally Frank - if you can. Chief E.K. Clark is a repository of our national history.
I am honoured to have been requested by H.E. to serve on the Organising Committee for the 2024 National Sports Festival.
Alhough I have since done other things- corporate communications, PR., sponsorships, marketing, project management, entrepreneurship- I still cherish the 17 years I worked as a sportscaster and relish, with great pride, the pioneering role we played in that field.
I look forward to contributing to the success of the Gateway Games.
