Overjet correction in progress.
#
Overjet presentation on a 10years old child. *Can it be corrected? YES, the earlier the better.
*Does the correction give an instant result? NO. It is a process.
NOTE: it’s perfectly normal for the upper front teeth to rest slightly in front of the lower teeth when a patient closes their mouth. The usual space between the upper and lower teeth is 2 millimetres. However, if the person’s upper front teeth extend the lower by more than 2mm, then the patient has overjet teeth.
Like most types of malocclusion, overjet is most often caused by genetics. Other causes may include childhood oral habits (like extended thumb sucking), gum disease, and jaw disorders. If left untreated, overjet can increase the risk of tooth damage, decay, and problems in eating and chewing.
Visit/dm us today for a professional advice/treatment SIA Dental Clinic Limited .
Like with many dental issues, some overjets are mild, while other cases can be severe. Other than the already mentioned problems with biting and chewing, the poor teeth alignment can make it difficult for a patient to close their lips.
In some rare cases, people can develop speech problems, or even bite their tongue or the inside of their cheek on a regular basis.
An overjet is a dental condition when the upper teeth go outward and sit over the bottom teeth. This can be a bit nasty because it can affect a person’s appearance and mouth aesthetics. A more pressing issue, however, is the fact that overjet can cause difficulties when it comes to chewing, drinking, and biting. In some severe cases, it may even cause jaw pain.

Fluorosis is a cosmetic condition that affects the teeth. It's caused by overexposure to fluoride during the first eight years of life.
It occurs as a result of taking in too much fluoride (via drinking water or toothpaste) over a long period when the teeth are forming under the gums. Only children aged 8 years and younger are at risk because this is when permanent teeth are developing; children older than 8 years, adolescents, and adults cannot develop dental fluorosis. There are different types of flourosis.
Many cases of fluorosis can be prevented by keeping children from swallowing fluoride products like toothpaste. Keep an eye on your child's brushing to help minimize the amount of toothpaste that gets swallowed.
Remember, there are treatments for fluorosis. Visit us today SIA Dental Clinic Limited for a professional care.

Just because tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the body doesn't mean it's up to the task of popping a metal lid off a bottle. Enamel might be hard, but it's also very brittle. Using your teeth to open a bottle is one of the most dangerous things you can do to your teeth, and if it slip, you could also damage the soft tissues of your lips or gums.

gingivitis:
Gingivitis during pregnancy is a frequent ailment characterized by swollen, sensitive gums that bleed readily. If neglected, it can proceed to periodontitis, a severe gum disease resulting in tooth loss.
Tumors:
Some pregnant women can get pregnancy tumors and benign growths on the gums. Although they are not malignant and normally disappear after pregnancy, they can cause pain and impact dental health.
Tooth decay:
Changes in nutrition and increased acidity in the mouth might raise the risk of tooth decay during pregnancy. Poor oral hygiene and frequent munching might worsen this problem.
Epulis of pregnancy:
Epulis is a specific swelling of the gum tissue frequently seen during pregnancy due to hormonal changes. It might be uncomfortable and have an impact on oral hygiene practices.
During pregnancy, women may be more prone to gum disease and cavities. This is because, woman’s hormonal changes during pregnancy can impact many aspects of her body, including her oral health.

DO THIS TO PREVENT TEETH DISCOLORATION
*Care for your teeth after eating pigmented foods. If you’re planning to consume pigmented food or drinks, brush and floss as soon as you’ve finished. If that’s not possible, then drinking or swishing with water can help remove at least some particles that can stain your teeth.
*Practice good oral health. Brush your teeth at least twice per day, floss daily and also use a water flosser or mouth rinse. “Mouth rinses and water flossers are excellent options for minimizing those pesky stains between the teeth that are tough to remove,”.
*Modify your habits. If you smoke or chew to***co, talk to your doctor about a cessation program to quit. You may also want to cut back on foods and beverages that can stain your teeth. If that’s hard to do, make sure you have a toothbrush on hand so you can be proactive about keeping your teeth free of stain-causing matter.
**Visit a dental clinic for the removal of extrinsic and intrinsic stain.
Intrinsic. This type of stain is located within the tooth, which makes it more difficult to remove unlike the extrinsic. It often appears grayish. Possible cause of intrinsic stains include:
*the use of certain medications, (there is a link between taking tetracycline antibiotics as a child and permanent tooth discoloration).
*trauma or injury to a tooth,
*tooth decay,
*too much fluoride,
*genetics.
Age-related. When you age, the enamel on your teeth begins to wear away, which often results in a yellow appearance.
“As you age, your teeth can become more brittle, and allow staining or yellowing to occur,”
GOOD NEWS!! There are many products and procedures that can whiten your teeth and eliminate or reduce the appearance of stains.
Visit us today or dm us for an appointment.
Do you have tooth discoloration and stains? Listen, tooth discoloration and stains on your teeth are common occurrences that can happen for a variety of reasons. The good news? Many of these stains are treatable and preventable.
Tooth discoloration falls into three different categories: extrinsic, intrinsic, and age-related.
Extrinsic. With extrinsic tooth discoloration, it’s likely that the stains are only affecting the tooth enamel, or the surface of the tooth. The most common causes of extrinsic stains include:
*food
*beverages
*to***co
Foods high in calcium and other nutrients like low-fat cheese, fat-free or low-fat milk, plain yogurt, and leafy greens can all provide the nourishment you need for healthy teeth. Foods high in protein like eggs, fish, meat, and poultry can also help protect the enamel on your teeth and improve bone density.
Crisp fruits and raw vegetables, like apples, carrots and celery, help clean plaque from teeth and freshen breath. Many fruits and vegetable contain lots of antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin C, that help protect gums and other tissues from cell damage and bacterial infection. Snack on them today for a healthier gum and fresh breath.
We are SIA and we care.
What you eat and how often you eat can affect your teeth. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth and, unless removed daily, this plaque builds up. Plaque bacteria use sugar from things you eat and drink to make acid that attacks tooth enamel.
However, low calorie diets also deplete your body of much needed minerals and vitamins. Malnutrition weakens bones and softens the enamel on your teeth. Diets lacking in nutrition also affect healthy gums making them more vulnerable to gum disease.
If your gum starts bleeding while brushing, then it may be a sign of gum disease. Visit us today dental Clinic Limited for a thorough examination and treatment.
We are here to pamper your oral cavity. Come, let's give you a BRIGHTER smile this season.
