INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY MESSAGE

Theme: Youth Engagement for Global Action

The leadership of the above named Association with joy and happiness wishes all the Youths of Ijesaland across the globe Happy International Youth Day

On 17th December 1999, in its resolution 54/120, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth (Lisbon, 8th-12th August 1998) that 12th August be declared International Youth Day.

The Assembly recommended that public information activities be organized to support the Day as a way to promote better awareness of the World Programme of Action for Youth, adopted by the General Assembly in 1996 (resolution 50/81).

It is so disheartening that this year’s Youth Day occurs as the lives and aspirations of the youths continue to be pending by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some have lost their lives and many have seen family members and other loved ones perish.

Many dreams, careers have been lost, many youths across the globe have diverted their attention from their goals to something else in order to survive financially during this pandemic.

It is no more a news that Covid 19 pandemic have messed up so many things but still youths are resourceful, their activism is beyond imagination, as they say the glory of the youth is his strength.

As we celebrate this year International Youth Day, let us acknowledge the amazing contribution youths are making to the improvement of our Communities, State and the whole Nation and commit to empowering our young citizens to create change at the Communities, State and National levels most especially at this time of pandemic.

Ijesa Youth Forum as the umbrella body for all Ijesa Youths across the globe wishes and celebrate all Ijesa Youths across the world. We are the leaders of tomorrow, many things are expected from us, we have a duty to our community, Ijesaland, to our State and the Country.

Let join hands together regardless of any difference and build a better communities in our dear father's land *Ijesaland.* Let remember that our youthfulness is not to serve as a political thugs but to serve as a beacon of hope for the next generation.

We beseech our traditional rulers, local leaders, State government and the Federal government to build an environment where the youths will be able to enjoy lives of safety, dignity and opportunity and contribute to the fullest of their great potential.

We pray this month shall be a month of new beginnings, unending happiness, joy and success, we shall all experience breakthrough in this new month. This month will be known for its extraordinary turnaround and be a steppingstone to great achievements. We shall see this year through in good health and abundant wealth.

On behalf of all the Ijesa Youths across the Globe, the Leadership of our dear Forum with joyful heart celebrates One of Our Mothers in Ijesaland, H.E Erelu Olusola Obada CON (Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and Former Minister of Defence - State) as she clocks another year today.

It is very disheartening that a local government with vast land and reputable personalities don't have an association that bring students together. It is a shame that students of Ilesa West local government don't have a platform that connects us all together.

On this note, the necessity of unionism between Ilesa West Local Government students prompt the creation of Federation of Ilesa West Student's Union (FIWESU).

I implore all Ilesa West Local Government Leaders, comrades, cadres, stakeholders and students both home and abroad to preach, support and facilitate this great vision.
