When I see people say that LPG for your generator isn't safe, that petrol is a better option, I laugh. Like people have trust issue with this safety but forget that there's a whole arsenal sitting in the name of petrol right on top of the generator that they've trusted with their life.

Worse off is that the same people use the LPG cylinder whose safety they criticise, a few meters away from open flames when cooking, not realising the power of diffusion (if safety was that much of an issue), and the fact that every safety expert will warn you against open flames. Open flames are in a toxic relationship with LPG yet they were able to seek counselling to coexist, but I digress.

That being said, LPG has an extremely high thermal efficiency. When used as fuel for generators, it offers increased duration of outputs and decreases your energy costs. LPG does not release any smoke or harmful gases. LPG has a high calorific value. LPG produces no residue or particulate matter after consumption. It's easier to transport and doesn't contain sulphur.

LPG cost about N700 per kg, whilst petrol now cost a minimum of N618 per litre. A 12.5kg cost about N8,750. If allowed to run for 6 hours a day, it will last a minimum of 1 week. An average petrol generator's full tank is about 15 litres, cost N9,217 and last for 6 hours. Running it 6 hours a week for 7 days cost N64,890 (N8,750 vs N64,890).

This is not to say that LPG is the safest freeway to ride on but, if you follow standard safety procedures just like you do with your care for petrol, you wouldn't have any issue plus you'd be saving yourself a tonne load of money in this RENEWED HOPE dispensation. I advice that you renew your strategy. I use it and I'm benefiting from it.
