She is an Ikwerre lady.

Her name is Monalisa Chinda-Coker popularly known as Monalisa Chinda, a famous veteran Nigerian actress, model, producer, television personality and philanthropist.

Monalisa Chinda was born on September 13, 1974 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in the south southern part of Nigeria. She is currently 49 years old. She is the firstborn in her family of two sons and four daughters.

Monalisa Chinda hails from Elelenwo, a town in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Her father is Ikwerre while her mother is Igbo.

She completed her primary school education in Army Children’s School GRA, Port Harcourt and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. After which she proceeded to Archdeacon Crowder Memorial Girl’s High School, Elelenwo in Port Harcourt for her secondary school education and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing her primary and secondary education, Monalisa Chinda proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Theater Arts in 2000.

In 1996, Monalisa Chinda joined the Nigerian movie industry and acted in her first movie “Pregnant Virgin”.

In 2007, she rose to fame after starring in the popular television soap opera “Heaven’s Gate”.

In 2011, Monalisa Chinda was crowned the Face of Port Harcourt-Carnival Queen, in her hometown of Rivers State, Nigeria.

In 2012, she became one of the first of four Nollywood celebrities to be featured on the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine.

In November 2014, she established a television media program and talk show titled “You and I with Monalisa”

Monalisa Chinda is involved in a lot of charity work. She has a column in the Saturday edition of The Sun Newspapers where she writes on social issues and relationships. She is a consultant with Royal Arts Academy, a media school known for training new talents in acting, writing, directing and movie production.

Monalisa Chinda is one of the most gifted, most skillful, most creative and most talented actresses in Nigeria. She has the ability to interpret her roles very well and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors. She has been in the industry for close to three decades now.

She has acted alongside with Nigerian actors and actresses like Frederick Leonard, Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Ramsey Nouah, Uti Nwachukwu, Beverly Naya, to name a few.

She is known for Extreme Measure (2006), Weekend Getaway (2012) and Lagos Cougars (2013).
