If there's one special skill I have apart from baking; it's playing the violin. I could play it endlessly throughout the day.
Baking for me is more like playing the violin requiring the art of focus. From sieving the flour to careful rolling of the dough to perfecting something sweetly edible, so does placing the violin requires giving the instrument a tone similar to a perfect human voice. Also baking requires the exact proportion in each ingredient; so do the violin need exactness of every piece in the expression of music
The sound of the violin makes my heart soar and gives me that emotional uplifting and calmness. The harmonious tone as I play my favourite songs make my heart skip. It's more like the kind of strength you get when you engage in your favourite activity, that's how it is with my violin.. It's just one perfect bliss.
Yes... Your favorite baker is a violinist too.

MY FIRST TRY AT BAKING

I remember my first try at baking and it was for my sister's birthday. Everyone was so excited; as at that time I was undergoing training at my catering school. Well that day ended in a disaster court.😂 Anxiety and happiness ate me deep as I got to the market and bought the necessary ingredients. Got my baking note ready and started whipping up my cake mix. Now baking is similar to working up an experiment in a lab; if you don't get your precise chemicals in the exact measurements, you end up not getting your desired results. So that's was where I messed up. My baking note said 10 eggs i added extra two, it said 1 tbsp of flavour I added an extra tbsp and so on and so forth. Don't blame me, I thought adding a bit extra ingredients would make me have a more tastier cake than I or anyone would ever imagine. Sadly I was wrong!

After mixing all my ingredients, it was time to bake and I skipped the part where I was meant to grease my cake pans. Well I guess we all know how that ended up. 😂

And that's how I ruined my sister's birthday cake and everyone's expectation. But I've learnt my lessons and now I know better. I assure you no more ruined cakes here at cause we offer you your desired cake at it's best. That does not only look great but taste perfect. 😍

MY JOURNEY THROUGH BAKING

Happy weekend cake and Pastry lovers! It's that time again to plant a smile on your face, unwind and relax. Take on the energetic vibe of the weekend and let nothing cause a wrinkle on your lovely face.
Since we are all chilling and relaxing, I've decided to give you a little story about how I started this little bakery of mine.
Well my name is Destiny Chinatu. Yeah! You guessed right, that's where I got the name for my little bakery . During the year 2018 when I wanted to enter into the university an objection came up from my mom, who thought it wise for me to learn a skill (preferably attend a catering school) before then. Why she choose a catering school among the lot? Funny thing😂because I didn't know how to cook.😅
I attended a boarding school during my secondary school days so I didn't even know the first thing about cooking. So I enrolled into Vio's catering school, Rupokwu here in Port Harcourt. There I learnt baking, cooking and craft work. I was a swift learner so I did excellently well cause I did have the passion for baking from the onset.
But after a period of time I lost my dad so we had to relocate to Ahoada because things were getting a bit rough. It was even more challenging after relocation cause I was new there. I got a teaching job at a primary school where I used the advantage to implement all I had learnt at my catering school, by selling cup cakes, buns, puff puff, chin chin, peanut and more. But my little side hustle wasn't encouraging as no one really knew me well. So I got low sale returns.
But something amazing happened to me that I will forever be grateful to God for. The church I was worshipping recognized my work after the cake I volunteered to offer them without any charges during a certain occasion they were about to hold. I put all my savings into the equipments I used in making the cake and it turned out they really loved it. I got loads of sales from after that since then.
So that's how my baking journey began and I've decided to expand my business a bit more hence this page was created. Yes, that's it for my little story right here.
And I'm not just a baker, I'm a violinist and a skater too. You can call me the MUSICAL BAKER & SKATER BAKER 😂..
Maybe I'll drop a video of me playing the violin so you better stay tuned right here for that.

IT'S HISTORY FRIDAY!!!!

Today is History Friday where we bring you history about your favourite pastries here pastries
I know y'all have heard and of course tasted Parfait (pronounced Pa-fay) right? Well did you know the word Parfait actually means 'perfect' in French. The origin of Parfait can be traced back to the French in 1894. It is served as a form of desert in the French cuisine and it is made of sugar syrup, egg and cream. Surprised? I know!
Well now Parfait has taken a form of modern twist now made with layers of different consistencies ranging from fruits, nuts, chocolate, coffee, ice cream, yogurt and cakes. It can also be an interesting breakfast options or just a snack to relax and enjoy in the day.

DESTINED YUMMY BREAD RECIPE

Good morning beautiful people. Destined cake and pastries is here to share another secret recipe, and this one is for all my bread lover. You know how you lo-ve to eat your bread whether it's with egg; scrambled, fried or boiled, or with steamy akara and don't forget our beans lover too. The soft and chewy feeling as we munch our tasty bread in delight. C'mon you can stop drooling now...LOL...

Hop along as we show you how we make the bread just the way you like it.

Ingredients
Flour (4 cups)
Melted butter (1 cup)
Yeast (1/4 tablespoon)
Granulated Sugar(1 cup)
Milk flavour(2 satchet)
Egg(1 )
Warm water
Vegetable oil

Tools
1) Bread pan
2) A clean cloth

Procedure
1) In a small bowl dissolve the yeast in a warm water with a pinch of sugar and cover with a clean cloth. About 5 minutes later it should be foamy and bubbly.

2) In a larger bowl add the flour, salt, sugar, milk flavour, egg (whipped), melted butter and mix thoroughly.

3) Add your yeast mixture to your flour mixture and mix to form a soft, smooth dough. The dough should stick just slightly to your fingers when touched, but not overly sticky. Knead 5-7 minutes until smooth, then roll to a ball.

4) Place the dough in an oiled bowl(vegetable oil) and cover with a clean cloth. Let it rise one hour or until doubled.
5) When the dough has risen, punch it down gently and divide in half. Roll each half into round shape and place into your lightly greased pan. Repeat with remaining dough and let rise in one hour.

6) Preheat the oven. Bake 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sound hollow when tapped. Let cool and my yummy loaves is ready to serve.

PS: I like to brush my loaves with a little melted butter after baking. I like that it helps to soften the top crust a little and gives it it's shiny coating.

DESTINED LIP SMACKING PEANUT RECIPE

Here at Destined cakes and pastries we don't just show you our mouth watering delectable edibles but we also share our recipes on how we make them.
So if you are a lover of groundnuts then I'm sure you also love peanuts as well, those soft crunchy nut snack we love to nibble on.
Peanut is a West African deep fried snack enjoyed by many. Groundnut being it's major ingredient and a few other ingredients included giving it, its crunchy yet nutritional taste. So stick around to know how your favourite snack is done.

Homemade Peanut ingredients

*Raw groundnuts (4 cups)
*Flour (2 cups)
*Nutmeg (1 teaspoon)
*Salt (1teaspoon)
*Sugar (1/3 cups for flour-1/4 cups for egg)
*Egg (2)
*Baking powder (1 and half teaspoon)
*Vegetable oil for frying
*Vanilla (optional)

Procedures

1) In a bowl, sieve in your flour

2) Add baking powder nutmeg, sugar(1/3 cup), mix and then set aside

3) Take up another bowl and break in 1 of the egg and add salt, sugar(1/4 cup) and mix thoroughly and set aside

4) In a bigger bowl, pour in the roasted peanuts. Pour in the other egg, vanilla flavour and toss the peanuts. Next, pour in your flour mixture and toss

5) Repeat the process until both the flour and the eggs are exhausted. This will give you finely coated peanut

6) Heat the oil in a pan and fry the coated peanuts until they are nice and brown. Your yummy peanut is ready!
