Singer Onyeka Onwenu slumps and passes away after a performance on Tuesday

Veteran Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress, Ms Onyeka Onwenu, is d£ad. Onwenu died on Tuesday evening at the Reddington Hospital, Lagos after she slumped after performing at the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli, MD of Emzor.

Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped. She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it. She was 72.

Earlier this year, Onwenu revealed she was producing a movie chronicling her experiences in the music industry spanning several decades. She expressed her excitement to share her personal story and how Nigerian music has evolved over time.

Onwenu is survived by her 2 sons, Tijani Ogunlende and Abraham Ogunlende.
