Why avocados are nutritional for students πŸ€”

At Gloryville Schools, we know that healthy bodies lead to healthy minds.

This week's superfood spotlight shines on the avocado!. This creamy green fruit is packed with nutrients that can benefit your child's development:

1. Avocados are rich in healthy fats, essential for brain development and cognitive function. These fats help support memory, focus, and learning.

2. Avocados are a great source of potassium, which helps regulate blood sugar and provides sustained energy throughout the day, keeping your little learner fueled for school activities and playtime adventures.

3. Avocados are high in fiber, which keeps your child feeling full and satisfied, reducing the urge for sugary snacks and promoting healthy digestion.

So when you see some on the market, don't forget to get them for your kids πŸ˜‰

Did you know that brilliant minds think differently?

At Gloryville Schools, we celebrate the unique talents and ways of thinking of all our students! Here's a fascinating fact you might not know:

πŸ“Œ Brilliant kids often process information differently. Their brains may be wired to make more connections between seemingly unrelated ideas, leading to bursts of creativity and innovative solutions.

This can manifest in a variety of ways:

πŸ“Œ Asking "why" a lot: Their thirst for knowledge and desire to understand the world around them can seem relentless!

πŸ“Œ Having intense interests: They might become deeply passionate about a specific topic, diving in headfirst and soaking up all the information they can find.

πŸ“Œ Thinking outside the box: They may approach problems from unconventional angles, coming up with surprising and original solutions.

Remember, being "different" isn't a bad thing. At Gloryville Schools, we nurture the unique strengths of each student, providing an environment where bright minds can flourish.

Do you have any personal experiences with brilliant kids (your own or someone you know)?

New term, new goals 😁

The bell has rung, and a fresh academic term is upon us at Gloryville Schools. Whether you're an existing student or a newcomer, we're ready to embark on a journey of learning and growth with you.

But how can you make the most of this term and set yourself up for success? Here are a few tips to get you started:

πŸ“Œ Set SMART Goals: Start with specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals. What do you want to achieve this term?

Maybe it's improving your grades in a particular subject or participating in a new club.

πŸ“Œ Plan and Organize: Develop a study schedule that works for you. Utilize your planner to keep track of assignments, tests, and extracurricular activities.

πŸ“Œ Adopt Active Learning: Don't just passively absorb information. Participate in class discussions, ask questions, and take detailed notes.

πŸ“Œ Form Study Groups: Connect with classmates and learn from each other. Collaborating on study sessions can boost understanding and retention.

πŸ“Œ Seek Help When Needed: Never be afraid to ask questions! Talk to your teachers, counselors, or peers if you need clarification on a concept or are struggling with a subject.

πŸ“Œ Maintain a Healthy Balance: All work and no play makes Jack (or Jane) a dull student. Schedule time for relaxation and activities you enjoy. Getting enough sleep and prioritizing your well-being is crucial for optimal learning.

We are here to support you every step of the way! We have dedicated teachers, counselors, and resources available to help you achieve your academic goals.

What are your strategies for making this term a success?

Welcome back to a brand new week of learning and exploration!

Did you know there's actually some history behind why Mondays are the first day of the week?

Here's a fun fact!

The concept of a seven-day week originated with the Babylonians way back in ancient Mesopotamia.

They observed the movements of the celestial bodies, particularly the moon, and divided their week into phases. Monday (literally meaning "Moon Day" in many languages) marked the beginning of a new lunar phase.

This system was later adopted by other cultures, including the Romans, who named the days after their gods. Monday was dedicated to Luna, the Roman moon goddess.

So, the next time you start your week on a Monday, remember that there's a long history around it.

Now, let's make this week a successful one!

What are you looking forward to learning this week?

Do you know that peanuts are super good for you?

(No, they are not junk foods)

Peanuts are packed with protein and healthy fats that help fuel your brain. Eating them can even improve your memory and concentration.

They are also a great source of calcium, which helps build strong bones and teeth.

And funny enough, it helps to treat allergies whether as an adult or as a kid.

JAMB exams are ongoing and WAEC exams are approaching 🫠

Tell me the truth, who loves exams? Not even me who's writing πŸ˜‚

It's an involuntary necessity we need to pass through to scale through our educational journey.

Speaking of JAMB, I want to address the technical issues you may come in contact with (but I pray you don't).

1. Computer shutdown: When such happens, contact the invigilator in the room and they'll fix up a solution for you. Don't panic.

2. Forgetfulness: probably because you crammed the night before, it can be time wasting if you pause because of a question. Proceed to the next one and come back to it later.

3. Fellow JAMBITE conversation: Don't do it while the exam is on, you might get implicated. If there's any question your sitting friend has, let him/her ask the invigilator who has all the answers. Don't forget cameras are in the room.

I wish you a successful sitting today and an excellent result after.

We felicitate with Tunde Onakoya, the 29 year old chess world record breaker πŸŽ‰

Having been a teacher once in his life and now currently doing all he can to improve the lives of kids on the street, we are appreciative.

And we would never fail to acknowledge the Nigerian spirit of excellence in him for sitting for 58 good hours beating down the records of New York Chess Masters and bringing the glory to Nigeria.

You're celebrated, Tunde and this is just the beginning.

Keep flying πŸ₯°

It's World Earth Day! Happy new week, scholars 🀩

This is a reminder to keep our environment a safe space without contributing to the pollution that is rampant.

In celebration of today, I'd like you to educate the people around you to stop the earth pollution and start supporting environmental conservation to help the climate ☁️

To all our JAMB students, we wish you success as you sit for your exams today.

It's finally Friday, Gloryville students!

We made it to the end of the week. Before you head off for some weekend fun, let's talk about keeping those pearly whites healthy.

🀩 Here's a quick health tip: Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time, and don't forget to floss!

Flossing removes food particles that brushing can miss.

🀩 Bonus Tip: Limit sugary drinks and snacks, as they can contribute to tooth decay.

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

See you next week for more fun and learning.

Hey, Gloryville students! It's a Monday.

School is on vacation, but learning never stops.

Today, let's talk about a figure of speech that can be a superhero for your WAEC English exam: Metaphor.

"Life is a journey with many twists and turns."

This statement is metaphoric because it uses the concept of a journey to symbolize the ups and downs, choices, and destinations we encounter in life.

Why is this helpful? Metaphors can make complex ideas easier to understand and remember. They can also add a creative touch to your writing.

Challenge Time! Compose a metaphoric statement and drop it in the comments.

Happy birthday to one of our amazing teachers, Mrs Akande πŸŽ‰

12/04/2024

It's finally Friday, Gloryville family!

Time to unwind, relax, and maybe even catch up on some sleep.

But don't forget to stay active too! Even during the holidays, a little exercise goes a long way for your physical and mental well-being.

Here are some fun ideas:

🟠 Get active outdoors: Play a friendly game of football with friends, take a family bike ride, or simply go for a brisk walk and enjoy the fresh air.

🟠 Indoor activities: Dust off those ludo game games, challenge your siblings to a dance-off, or try some simple ten-ten games.

Remember, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind!

So have fun, stay active, and enjoy your weekend, Gloryville Stars!

We'll see you bright-eyed and body-built when school starts again. See you soon!

Did you know that former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo was once a student at Baptist Boys' High School in Abeokuta, Ogun State? πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬

Mr. Obasanjo is a distinguished alumnus of our great state, and his story is an inspiration to all Gloryville students. It's a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and a strong foundation in education, anything is possible!

Who knows, maybe one day, a future leader of Nigeria will be walking the very same halls as you are right now! Keep striving for excellence, Gloryville Stars. The future is bright.

Hope you are enjoying Ramadan πŸ₯³

10/04/2024

Holidays are fantastic, but don't forget – learning is a lifelong journey!

Here are some ways to keep your mind sharp and build your academic capabilities even during the break:

πŸ“Œ Read for pleasure. You can get yourself a captivating novel, like one of the literatures in our curriculum, or revisit an old one entirely.

Reading sparks imagination, expands vocabulary, and strengthens reading comprehension skills.

πŸ“Œ Practice makes perfect. Dust off those math workbooks, practice writing exercises you enjoyed in class, or tackle a practice science experiment at home (with adult supervision, of course!)✍️

πŸ“Œ Explore online resources. There are amazing educational websites and apps that offer interactive lessons, quizzes, and engaging activities to keep your brain active.

Remember, even small bursts of learning can make a big difference.

So, have fun exploring and keep that thirst for knowledge alive.

Happy Ramadan πŸŽ‰

09/04/2024

In the meantime, enjoy every minute of your well-deserved break.

Rest up, recharge those batteries, and maybe even explore a new hobby or two!
