I am Oyehan Aminah, the creative director of Aimee Labels, a fashion design brand (specialising in all Female CLOTHINGS)

Being a fashionista and having studied so many personalities on fashion and style. I would love to explore fashion and style across borders...MY GOAL IS TO SIMPLIFY LEARNING FOR FASHION ASPIRANTS

A short Background story about how I learnt Fashion design…

Back in 2014,I started learning Fashion designing from my boss,I couldn’t stay for as long as I would have wanted with her because there were Pressures from my Parents that Education should be my main focus at the time

After about 10 months of learning, I moved on to the search for admission into Uni…(The story long) I gained admission after few years.

I worked as a seamstress for months and working in the fashion home opened my eyes to a lot of things… I got my own sewing Machine and started from the Corner of my room in Uni.

The zeal to keep Practicing and Learning more did not stop haunting me and now I’m grateful to God that I’M LEARNING,UNLEARNING AND RELEARNING

I am most passionate about inspiring fashion enthusiasts and Sharing my knowledge to benefit them and ease their learning process.

Could you believe,I use to think ready to wear (ready-made) are made with special machines and exclusive to the Oyinbos🤣🤣🤣 but thank God I'm over that now😉 And I can make those Oyinbo wears too

MY WINDOW SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

The building and everything about the Ready- to-wear store always inspires me so much that I will silently pray to God that I wish to have something bigger than this someday.

I entered this store with so much confidence even when I know I’m not buying anything🥱

On entry someone came up to me and started giving me VVIP treatments😂 (In my mind,I was like make she no waste energy on person wey go get anything to buy).

They showed me around and I fed my eyes with so much creativities and luxury, I saw Ankara dress worth #800,000 and I was wowed buh it was all worth it.

The attendant asked what size I wanted to buy and I lied that I wanted a size 14 and she was busy showing me varieties,buh me deep down was enjoying the moment.

-The creativities of the tailors
-The Neatness and combinations were so inspiring
-I love the details and attention that was properly paid to each outfit
-The branding and the packaging was top-notch
- the sweetest part(🙈 I met the CEO herself and she smiled at me 😊) I was just blushing till I got home

I left there,telling them I will make my order online🙈

The window shopping relieved my stress, Inspired me and I learned so much.

My next window shopping will be a Luxury bridal store, I will kukuma gist you guys…

I just pray they will allow me to do video and take pictures

AVOID THESE MISTAKES AS A BEGGINNER IN FASHION DESIGNING

All Professionals and big brands were once a beginner,These is a process we all have to experience buh I wish someone had told me these too...

📌 PERFECTION IS OVERRATED - Don't allow your sewing or Cutting mistakes discourage you. Bad feedbacks can be heartbreaking sometimes(I can relate to this very well), Don't let it get to you rather let it push you to work harder towards making yourself better.

Celebrate the one's you got right no matter how small👏

📌 DON'T RUSH YOUR PROCESS - Give yourself time to discover your area of Strength,everything will fall in place with each step you take consistently, Build your brand,impress your clients and prospective clients.
You are doing well and it will all pay off Soon 🙌

📌 DONT UNDERMINE "CONTINUOUS PRACTICE" - Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!
Practice breeds improvement.

UNLEARN - UNLEARN old techniques that's not working for you, UNLEARN the incorrect ways and embrace new skills that will make you works look more professional 😉 UNLEARN so you can up your sewing game.

RELEARN - Learn what you've learnt before buh probably you forget, Learn new skills related to your profession...LEARN! LEARN!! LEARN!!!

I JUST FOUND OUT AN EASY TECHNIQUE 💃 💃 💃

I just found out a new and easy technique to sew CRINOLINE/HORSEHAIR on Flares,peplum,flounces...

I was having a stressful day buh I need to finish up sewing a peplum top,I was feeling very tired buh I need to make the top under any circumstance because customers no dey hear story 😅

The thought crossed my mind that there must be other ways to attach crinoline to a peplum that won't require much stress.

I then carefully sew the down part of my 720°degree flare and the lining normally as if I'm not adding crinoline, then I top-stitched the down part of the flare with the Crinoline on the lining part.

Tho! I had my fears it might not work out but I was bent on trying.... Then Viola!!! My Peplum came out looking beautiful 😍 👌
I'M NEVER SEWING IT THE OLD WAY AGAIN 😁 🤣
