Today, we commemorate the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, a day that highlights the importance of collective efforts and diplomatic endeavors in promoting peace and resolving conflicts. In a world where global challenges are increasingly complex and interconnected, multilateralism and diplomacy are more crucial than ever.

Multilateralism is about working together, sharing responsibilities, and leveraging diverse perspectives to address common challenges. It is about recognizing that our individual and national interests are intertwined with those of others, and that our collective well-being depends on cooperation and mutual support. From addressing climate change and pandemics to promoting economic development and human rights, multilateralism has the power to drive meaningful progress and improve lives around the world.

Diplomacy, on the other hand, is the art of dialogue, negotiation, and understanding. It is about finding common ground, building trust, and fostering relationships that can help prevent conflicts and resolve disputes peacefully. Effective diplomacy requires empathy, creativity, and a willingness to listen and adapt, and it is essential for maintaining peaceful relations between nations and peoples.

As we celebrate this International Day, we acknowledge the progress made through multilateral efforts and diplomatic endeavors. We recognize the crucial role of international organizations, such as the United Nations, in promoting peace, security, and development. We also honor the tireless work of diplomats, mediators, and peacebuilders who strive to prevent and resolve conflicts, often in the face of great adversity.

However, we also acknowledge that there is much work to be done. Rising nationalism, conflicts, and geopolitical tensions threaten global peace and stability. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed weaknesses in our global response and highlighted the need for more effective multilateral cooperation.

As we move forward, let us reaffirm our commitment to multilateralism and diplomacy for peace. Let us work together to strengthen international cooperation, address global challenges, and promote a culture of peace and understanding. Let us support and empower diplomats, peacebuilders, and changemakers who strive to make our world a better place.

The South South Model United Nations SSMUN will build the transformational leadership qualities and Diplomatic Skills of Kofi Anan for the Youths

It's Monday and our is Kofi Anan.

Mr. Annan was born in Kumasi, Ghana, on 8 April 1938, and was fluent in English, French and several African languages.

As secretary-general, Annan reformed the UN bureaucracy, worked to combat HIV/AIDS (especially in Africa) and launched the UN Global Compact.

After he served as UN secretary-general, Annan took up residence in Geneva and worked in a leading capacity on various international humanitarian endeavours.

He was responsible for certifying Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000, and in 2006 his efforts contributed to securing a cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hizbollah.

Kofi Annan continued to use his experience to mediate and resolve conflict after stepping down as UN Secretary-General.

Kofi Annan died on 18 August 2018 in Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 80.

As a pro-diplomacy organisation, we celebrate him as a role model for young diplomats.

The Youth Model African Union (YMAU) gathers young people from across Africa to promote the goals of the African Union by improving their knowledge of the processes and practices of the African Union, strengthening the capacity of young people for disruptive thinking & brainstorming solutions to Africa's most pressing challenges and designing policy responses to these challenges through a simulated design of the African Union's Organs and Commissions.

Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASD) and African Transformer Institute wishes to inform the Public of the change of name of the Abuja Model African Union (AMAU) to the Youth Model African Union (YOMAN). This change of name is consequent upon consultation and feedback from CEPASD’s partners, sponsors and delegates. It is also to reflect the Pan African reach of the Model African Union which has evolved beyond being hosted in Abuja Nigeria to being poised to be hosted in different African countries annually.

The Youth Model African Union is the simulation of the proceedings, plenaries, extraordinary sessions and committee meetings of the Assembly of African Union. The model African Union also aims to expose participants to the system and workings of the African Union as well as enable them gain diplomatic, leadership, lobbying and international relations experience to position themselves on a career as diplomats and transformational leaders for the African We Want.

To achieve the above, the Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development has executed strategic partnerships to heighten the impact and participant experience of this year's Model African Union. We therefore wish to announce our partnership with the Pan African Young Diplomats Forum for the convening of this year's Model African Union.

The aims and objectives of the Model African Union remain unchanged while we commit to continually set the pace as the Best Model African Union in the continent. Our newly executed partnership with the Pan African Young Diplomatic Forum is a milestone in organizing the 2022 edition. To this effect, there will be a few amendments to the logo of the model to reflect the highlighted changes. We assure prospective delegates for the 2022 edition of our commitment to ensuring maximum engagement and networking experience.

Mark Siljander, A Former U.S. Congressman and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Author and peacemaker.

He was appointed UN Ambassador by U.S President Reagan. Mark was elected at 21 years old to a local town council, at the age 25 to 3 terms in the Michigan State Legislative and at 29 years old to 3-term in the U.S. Congress. President Reagan appointed Mark as a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations

In 2008, after having worked together in Darfur, then sitting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon endorsed Mark Siljander’s book saying ‘With this important new work, Mr. Siljander has courageously stoop up to be counted. Mark is known for his decisive contributions in mitigating the Darfur genocide.
