SUNSCREEN/SUNBLOCK.....

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW AND THE IMPORTANCE OF IT... PLEASE SHARE BEFORE YOU READ SO YOU WON'T FORGET TO DO A GOOD DID THAT WILL COST YOU NOTHING PLEASE ONE LOVE 💕😘...

Good afternoon, everyone, and I hope you are all doing well

I believe that by now, we all know that most of the damages that occur on the skin of PWA are related to the sun and, specifically, the ultraviolet rays
These damages are not peculiar to PWA as they are also found in other persons, just that they are more prevalent amongst PWA
It is important to note that the use of sunscreen is just one of the ways of protecting the skin from the harmful effect of UVA and should be used together with other methods, which include

1. Avoidance of the sun, especially between 10 am and 3 pm (when our shadows are shorter than us)

2. Use of protective clothings, broad based hats, umbrella, and dark glasses to protect the eyes
Sunscreens usually come in various forms (lotions, creams, gel, sprays, ointment, foams), and each may be more suited for different parts of the body
In selecting a good sunscreen, we are expected to consider 3 basic things:

It should be a broad spectrum (with activities against UVA and UVB)

It should have SPF of at least 30 (which protects against about 97% of uv rays)

It should be water resistance
Many good sunscreens in the market meet these criteria, and all you need to do is to select the one that suits your skin as well as your pocket

There's this saying that a good sunscreen is the one that can be used regularly
Based on the active ingredients in sunscreens, they can be classified into 2

Physical sunscreen (which contains zinc oxide or titanium)- they serve as a shield reflecting the rays as they get to the skin

Chemical sunscreen contains ingredients like oxybenzone and avobenzone that have the capacity to absorb the uv rays

Both are effective, and all you need to do is
select the one that suits your skin
Sunscreens should be used every day and in every season, even when the weather is very cloudy
Uv rays (especially UVA can pe*****te windows as such. You use your sunscreen even on days you stay completely indoors

Sunscreens should ideally be applied in the morning around 8 am. (or 15 minutes before leaving the house). It should be applied on all body surfaces not covered by clothings,

It should be reapplied every 2 hours (when outdoors) or 4 hours( when completely indoors)

It should also be reapplied after swimming or after profuse sweating

You should be generous while applying sunscreen, that's why it is better to use the most affordable ones (depending on ones financial capacity)

Most of the ingredients in these sunscreen are considered safe at the moment, and there's no fear of long-term issues regarding their use at the moment

Sunscreens are also safe in children and can be used even in infants that are 6 months and above
So, let's always remember that adequate sun protection involes 3 main prongs

1. Avoidance of sun and seeking shades

2. Use of protective clothing

3. Proper and regular use of sunscreens.

Let's stick to these measures, and we will have healthy, beautiful skin free from all the medical jargon occurring due to actinic/sun damage...
