7 Medical Benefits of Ma*****na

In this article, we are going to talk about a few medical benefits of ma*****na that you can enjoy if you have a medical prescription. In other words, we are going to shed some light on the positives on the basis of scientific research. Ma*****na is not recommended for recreational purposes.

According to researchers, the herb can help with the treatment of absent-mindedness, malaria, gout, and rheumatism, just to name a few. Now, let's talk about some of the prominent benefits of this herb.

1. Cancer Treatment

According to a study published in Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, ma*****na can help fight cancer. Another study found that CBD can also curb the growth of cancer cells in the body.

The researchers at the American Association for Cancer Research say that the herb does a good job of slowing down the growth of tumors in the lungs, breasts, and brain.

2. Prevents Alzheimer's Disease

CBD has a powerful ingredient called THC that helps control the Alzheimer's disease, says the research that was done at the Scripps Research Institute. Also, THC can curb the growth of amyloid plaques as it tends to block the plaque-producing enzymes. You may get Alzheimer's disease if your brain cells get killed by the plaques.

3. Treats Glaucoma

CBD may also help treat glaucoma. Actually, ma*****na reduces pressure in your eyes, which helps protect your eyeball.

4. Relieves Arthritis

According to a 2011 research study, researchers concluded that cannabis can help patients get rid of pain and swelling. As a result, patients with rheumatoid arthritis can get enough sleep.

5. Treats Epileptic Seizure

Another study done in 2003 found that the herb can be used to treat epileptic seizures as well. An experiment done on rats gave enough evidence that CBD does prevent seizures for up to 10 hours. Actually, THC binds the cells in the brain that are responsible for triggering seizures.

6. Helps with Parkinson's Disease

Many studies were done in Israel to find out the benefits of ma*****na for patients with Parkinson's disease. The study found that the drug can help ease the pain, which helps patients improve their sleep. The patients consumed the herb also enjoyed better motor skills.

7. Helps with Crohn's Disease

Cannabis is also a good choice for patients with Crohn's disease. This disease causes pain and inflammation in the intestines. Patients also experience pain, weight loss, diarrhea, and nausea.

In Israel, studies were done to find out if this disease can be controlled with cannabis. And the results were positive. More than 90% of the participants who smoked ma*****na experienced fewer symptoms.

Long story short, if more research is done, we may come to know about a lot of other benefits of this herb as well. For now, we can say that CBD has some benefits as far as the treatment of the abovementioned diseases is concerned. However, we don't recommend that you smoke or use this herb in any form without a valid medical prescription. Hope this helps.

What Is Anxiety and Tips That Will Help

Anxiety has been described many ways; however, one definition is a feeling of worry, or unease; often concerning an upcoming event or something that has an uncertain outcome. If one word would sum up anxiety it would be "uncertainty."

Keep in mind; anxiety is caused by several key factors; environmental factors, genetics, medical factors like stress from a disease, brain chemistry due to stress and use of or withdrawal from drugs.

Symptoms of anxiety are fatigue, irritability, muscle tension, difficulty sleeping and restlessness. A doctor can diagnose anxiety by examining and talking with the patient.

Cognitive behavioral therapy works for some. It is a short-term talking therapy where a counselor or therapist works with a person to help them find new ways to approach challenges, including stress, fear and relationship issues.

There are things you and I can do that will provide quick relief from symptoms of anxiety such as taking a deep breath. Taking a deep breath will help your body to relax. It helps your body to go from a "fight-or-flight response to a relaxed response. Try slowly inhaling through your nose on the count of four and then exhaling through your mouth on the count of five or six.

Another tip that will help is to accept that you are anxious. Feeling anxious now and then is part of life. Remember, anxiety is only an emotional reaction. In addition, remember your brain is playing tricks with your brain. Also, when you feel anxiety, your brain will come up with strange thoughts and reactions but that is not the truth; it is hype. So, challenge your thoughts; your brain is trying to tell you a falsehood.

Ask yourself when feeling anxious: "Is this worry real?" Or, "Is this thing I'm worried about likely to happen?"

An additional tip is to use positive self-talk. In other words, ignore the negative feedback you are getting from your brain and tell yourself some "positive coping words" like "This anxiety feels scary, but I can initiate some strategies to cope with this." By using positive words, especially words that come from the Bible, you can feel a lot better and can shove the negative thoughts away.

Most importantly, focus on what is going on right now. In most cases when a person is anxious, he or she is thinking about something that might occur in the future. Instead of worrying about what might happen, pay attention to what is currently going on. Even if something very bad is currently going on, focus on the present moment because it will help you manage the current situation. Also, think about something you are looking forward to doing in the future--a happy event. This will help get you through the bad time.

To conclude, anxiety is a feeling of worry, or unease; often concerning an upcoming event or something that has an uncertain outcome. If one word would sum up anxiety it would be "uncertainty." Put your worries and concerns away and follow the above tips. You will feel less anxious and you will have several ways to manage and lessen feelings of anxiety

Sleep Deprivation-Why Do We Need Eight Hours Sleep?

Why do we need 8 hours sleep at night, or to spend a third of our life in bed? It is now thought extended sleep deprivation, sleeping regularly only 4 or five hours a night can have harmful health effects. Long-term sleep deprivation is now liked to heart disease, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, diabetes and even dementia and weight loss. Because of comfort eating it can also cause weight gain.

Short term sleep deprivation or a period of sleeplessness, as parents of babies and small children will experience can be the cause of accidents on the roads and in factories by lowering concentration levels, causing clumsiness and a general feeling of being under par. This is soon reversed after a few good night's sleep. However during the deprived period anything learned is soon forgotten as university students will be aware.

I had forgotten what it felt like to feel to be turned into a zombie by lack of sleep but recently with the hot nights plus increased phone calls from my 99-year-old mother, both during the day and night-time, meant I was functioning decidedly below par!

At last I have just enjoyed about eight hours of blissful sleep. I awoke feeling I could take on the world and nothing would be a problem. My energy levels are high, my concentration ability has quadrupled and I have already spend an hour and a half on marketing research and it is barely nine am!

I now recall times when the children were young - I did have five children under five years including two foster children; but I was in my twenties then and more resilient then. I can truly identify with all new mums out there coping with their new babies and young children, and the dads dragging themselves off to a day's work-load after sleepless nights; the sleeplessness compounded by the newness of the situation, but it does end.

The other group we should feel for are the carers that are looking after loved ones that need assistance 24/7. That must feel never-ending. Being exhausted on a regular basis is a dreadful feeling it saps your energy, your ability to think clearly, your sense of humour and even your spirit.

So to all those struggling new mums, parents with small and special needs children. The infirm or elderly and their carers' take every opportunity of help offered you, will feel so much better when you are properly rested, even if it means taking an afternoon nap. After all the Spanish have a name for it, and enjoy their siester-time, when in the villages, shops close for the afternoon, opening again when it's cooler.

There are some foods that are considered helpful in promoting sleep, we all know a glass of warm milk is helpful but also we could include bananas, nuts and seeds in our arsenal of helpful foodstuffs. Lighter bedding on hot nights also help as duvets now come in tog ratings as low as 1 and 2, I know I have just purchased one online.

So To all you sleep deprived out there for whatever reason I wish you well and an improvement to your situation.

To all new parents you might like to take a look at my new book...

'Stress-Free Parenting - the Helping Hand for all New Mums'
It is especially aimed at first time mums and takes you from birth through the first 5 years, covering all the problem areas like, tantrums, an easy bedtime routine, sibling jealousy, preparing for schooldays and much more.

6 Home Remedies to Treat the Bacterial Vaginosis

Typically, bacterial vaginosis is a type of va**nal infection. It occurs because of the overgrowth of bacteria. Naturally, the va**nal area has both good and bad bacteria. As the name suggests, bacterial vaginosis occurs when there are too many bad bacteria. This is a common condition in women whether they are single or married. With home remedies, it's possible to treat as well as prevent this condition. Let's take a look at some of the effective remedies.

1. Yogurt

As a natural probiotic, yogurt contains a lot of healthy bacteria. According to experts, eating yogurt provides you with a good deal of healthy bacteria, which maintains a balance around the va**nal environment. This may help your body deal with the bad bacteria. For better health, make sure you consume yogurt at least once per day. Yogurt has many other health benefits as well.

2. Probiotics
As far as the probiotics goes, yogurt has a lot of it. You can also choose from a variety of probiotic supplements. In a study done in 2014, it was discovered that probiotic supplements might help you with bacterial vaginosis.
All you need to do is eat probiotics on a daily basis. You can choose either the liquid or pill form of it. Most antibiotic meds kill both the good and bad bacteria. Therefore, it's better to eat yogurt to spur on the growth of good bacteria as well.

3. Garlic
When it comes to antibacterial properties, garlic is on top of the list. For years, it has been used as an effective home remedy for a variety of health conditions including the bacterial vaginosis.

4. Hydrogen peroxide
According to a study done in 2003, you can treat bacterial vaginosis if you consume the hydrogen peroxide for one week. Just one ounce per day will be enough. As a matter of fact, hydrogen peroxide is a cost effective way of treatment. Plus, it doesn't have a lot of side effects either.

5. Tea tree oil
With the powerful antifungal and antibacterial properties, tea tree oil can be used to treat the bacterial vaginosis. Many studies provide enough evidence for it.
All you need to do is dilute the tea tree oil with another type of oil, such as olive, sweet almond and coconut. Make sure you opt for a type of oil that doesn't give you an allergic reaction. Once you have chosen one, you can mix one ounce of this carrier oil with a few drops of tea tree oil. Using it without a carrier is not a good idea.

6. Boric acid
Boric acid (in the form of capsules) can also be used for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. All you need to do is insert a few boric acid capsules into your va**na each night for at least 14 days. It's use is safe so you don't have to worry about the side effects.
Long story short, if you have the va**nal infection, make sure you follow any of the 6 home remedies given in this article. Hope this helps

How Much Water Are You Drinking Every Day?

Some people do not realize the value of water, and how drinking it can have a huge effect on their overall health. Even if it is crucial to drink lots of water, many of these individuals may not be drinking the right amount of water every day.

According to the Institute of Medicine, men are advised to consume 3 liters of water a day, while women are supposed to consume 2.2 liters daily.

About 70% of the body is made up of water, while 71% of the earth's surface is covered with water. Since water is found everywhere, people take it for granted, and drinking a sufficient amount is not included in their list of priorities.

Among the different parts of the body, the kidneys depend a lot on sufficient water intake. Though these organs may not get much attention just like the heart or lungs, they have many important functions that help maintain the health of the body.

Reasons to Drink Water

The cells and organs of our body need water so that they can function well. In addition, this vital fluid regulates blood pressure, lubricates the joints, helps in the passage of food through the intestines, and protects the spinal cord and sensitive tissues.

Some of the water needed by the body comes from foods that have a high content of water - such as soups, oranges and tomatoes - but most of it comes from drinking water and other beverages.

As people do their normal daily activities, their body loses water and it has to be replenished. It is obvious that water is lost when sweating and urinating. However, many do not know that it is also lost when breathing.

Whether drinking from a bottle or the tap, water is the body's best source of fluids. Milk and juices are good sources of water, while drinks with caffeine and alcohol content like coffee, soft drinks and beer are not very good - they have diuretic properties that cause the body to discharge water.

The Right Amount of Water to Drink

The right amount of water that should be consumed on a daily basis varies from one person to another, based on different factors - everyday activities and the amount of sweat they release. There is no universal rule as to the water consumption that needs to be achieved. Nevertheless, there is a general level of agreement as to the healthy amount.

The Institute of Medicine or IOM says that the sufficient amount of water that men should take is about 13 cups or 3 liters a day. They recommend 9 cups or about 2.2 liters for women.

It has always been said that people need to drink eight glasses (eight ounces per glass) a day, which is about 1.9 liters. This is very near the recommendation of IOM for women. It is somehow easy to remember the quantity 8 x 8 to set them on the right track, when it comes to water consumption.

What's more, water also helps in dissolving nutrients and minerals to make them more available to the body. It also flushes waste products out of the body's system. These two functions make water essential to the kidneys.

What's Better Than Calories In / Calories Out?

I'm tempted to say, "Almost anything," because the calorie myth is being disproven over and over these days. Finally!

That myth is a distraction from the real effects of foods. Below are just a few.

1. Food and Brain Chemistry

No, there's no brain chemistry in food. But certain properties of foods help the brain produce certain brain chemicals.

Protein foods supply amino acids.

As you remember from 7th grade biology (!!?!?), amino acids are the "building blocks of protein." Aminos are used by the brain to make brain chemicals that influence our moods.

Three of them are dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Protein also provides B vitamins to help the brain make those 3 chemicals.

Dopamine is associated with pleasure and reward. It triggers alertness, clarity and faster response time. A brain on dopamine is ready for action.

Norepinephrine is another reward chemical that triggers alertness. It's anti-depressive and has analgesic properties.

Serotonin makes us feel relaxed and calm. It decreases stress, anxiety and depression. It's also an analgesic. With food, serotonin produces satiety, especially for carbs.

To take advantage of the natural properties of protein foods, eat fish, shrimp, crab, poultry, eggs, beef, cottage cheese, high-protein yogurt.

But I'm Vegan!

Use the many plant protein powders available. H**p, pea, brown rice, sacha inchi, and vegetable protein powders effectively replace animal proteins. Vegan or not, never skimp on protein if you want your brain to function optimally.

2. Food and Hormones

We're NOT talking about hormones given to animals that can harm the health of those who eat the foods. This section is about the hormones our bodies produce when we eat specific foods.

Here are 3 examples of how hormones triggered by foods can affect us.

CCK
When we eat fats and/or protein foods, the body releases CCK (cholecystokinin).

CCK is almost magic. It makes us feel we've had enough food and don't need more for a while. It decreases appetite for carbohydrates and also stops carb cravings.

Insulin
When we eat starches ("carbs"), the pancreas releases insulin. Insulin is absolutely vital, but in excess can cause trouble. What can excess insulin do?

• It promotes fat storage, moving glucose into fat stores.
• It inhibits fat utilization (oxidation), so we burn carbohydrate for fuel instead.
• It promotes inflammation and is at the heart (!) of a number of metabolic conditions that increase the risk of heart disease.

Glucagon
When we eat protein, the body releases glucagon. Glucagon moves fat from storage into the bloodstream, so it can be used for energy.

Those are only 3 of the hormones that respond to specific foods we eat. As you can see, they have benefits that make them more compelling than calories in / calories out.

3. Food and Sleep

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter and sometimes classified as a hormone. It's produced in the brain and the intestines and is found in platelets and other locations. It's a vasoconstrictor.

Serotonin is best known as an antidepressant but does a lot more.

In the GI tract, it helps to control appetite, especially for carbs.

When we're injured, serotonin is released by the platelets. It triggers vasoconstriction to decrease blood flow and promotes blood clot formation.

What If We Don't Have Enough?

Low serotonin is linked with anxiety, low self-esteem, cravings for sweet and/or starchy carbs, and sleep difficulties.

If you have trouble falling asleep at night, try eating a small portion of healthful starch about 80 or 90 minutes before bed. The starch will start the process that allows the brain to produce serotonin. Serotonin in turn produces melatonin, often called the sleep hormone. All natural, no side effects.

If your sleep problem is waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep, starches will help you fall asleep again.

Keep your portions small. The idea is to change brain chem, not add another meal.

ALSO! This works best if you eat protein with your meals and snacks throughout the day.
As you can see, food is much more (and more interesting!) than calories in / calories out.

K2: An Important Vitamin You May Not Know
Many people know that vitamin K1 is involved in helping blood clot. It's found in plant foods, particularly leafy greens. Examples include kale, collard greens, spinach, turnip greens, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.

Apparently, vitamin K1 deficiency is rare.

But another vitamin - K2 - is important for its completely different functions. K2 helps to:
• prevent cardiovascular disease
• form strong bones and teeth
• prevent osteoporosis
• prevent kidney stones
• promote healthy skin and prevent wrinkles
• prevent cavities, and more.

K2 is found primarily in animal products and fermented foods. (It has several subtypes, but I'm going to declare that info beyond the scope of this brief article!) Food sources of K2 are listed below.

While K1 and K2 are similar in structure, they seem so different. Is there any connection between the two? And if so, what is it?

Let's Start with How K2 Prevents Cardiovascular Disease

K2 promotes the deposit of calcium in bones and teeth, especially when it's combined with vitamin D3. That's because K2 activates osteocalcin and other proteins related to skeletal growth and bone formation.

Yet K2 also prevents the deposit of calcium in soft tissues, where it doesn't belong. As a result, it can help prevent calcification of arteries and the formation of atherosclerotic plaques.

That's its link with cardiovascular disease prevention.

Why Are Animal Products the Primary K2 Source?

The human body can convert K1 to K2 but is limited in its ability to do that. Animals are better at the conversion process.

And here we find the connection between the 2 vitamins.

Animals get their K1 from eating grasses and other plants. They convert that K1 to K2.

So it's not enough to eat cheese or butter to get K2, for example - even though some sources simply list those foods. Instead, we need to choose cheese or butter from grass-fed cows because of the K1/K2 connection.

Fermented cheeses - such as Jarlsberg, Edam, Gouda, cheddar, Brie, and blue - contain vitamin K2 formed by the bacteria used during their production. Of these, cheddar and Brie are particularly high in K2 due to the types of bacteria used.

Ghee (clarified butter) from grass-fed cows is an excellent source of K2, even better than regular butter.

Egg yolks are another good source of K2 - but should come from free-range chickens, which eat grasses.

Dark chicken meat and beef are good K2 sources, but again should be from grass-fed animals.

Two other sources are goose liver and chicken liver. In keeping with the other K2 info, my recommendation would be to eat free-range versions of those animal products, as well.

What Should Vegans Eat to Get K2?

Natto from fermented soy is one of the few non-animal sources of vitamin K2, and has a high K2 content.

Sauerkraut is another K2 source.

I suggest real, fermented sauerkraut. That means the label should list only 2 ingredients: cabbage and salt. Possibly water, as well. Avoid a more "standard" product with vinegar. That would actually be pickled cabbage, not fermented sauerkraut.

Kimchi is fermented vegetables and also contains K2.

So there's a little info on vitamin K2. Because we can convert K1 to K2 to some degree, I'd recommend that you eat plenty of leafy green vegetables - for many health reasons, but also to get lots of K1.
